Aspectos epidemiológicos e clínicos dos pacientes atendidos num serviço de referência em IST Epidemiological and clinical aspects of patients seen at an IST reference service
Objective: To describe the sociodemographic and clinical profile of patients with HIV-Syphilis co-infection followed up at a Reference Service in the city of João Pessoa-PB between April 2017 and April 2018.Method: The study was cross-sectional, observational, retrospective and descriptive, with the collection of information from medical records, using an authoritative and standardized form. The study population consisted of patients diagnosed with HIV between April 2017 and April 2018.Results: The diagnosis of HIV-Syphilis co-infection occurred in 28.7% (29) of the patients and entirely among male individuals. The most affected age group was between 20 and 34 years old (72.4%). Regarding sexuality, 55.2% (16) of the co-infected patients were homosexual. As for education, 38% (11) were in higher education.Conclusion: The study provided knowledge of the profile of patients with HIV-Syphilis co-infection, which can assist in planning future actions for prevention and early diagnosis.
