This research was conducted for analyzing Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) of biology prospective teachers in Riau Province. The study was carried out to fulfill Indonesian Government's policy on Indonesian Qualification Framework (IQF) 6-Level. This development research aimed to analyze, design and develop a model to enhance the competency and competitiveness of Education College graduates to meet their professional, social and industrial needs. This paper discussed a preliminary study of the developed models for strenghtening the prospective teachers from Biology Education Departement, conducted through a survey of 243 students from four different colleges of education in Riau Province. The data were collected through a test and interview. The instruments used contained seven variables of knowledge, namely Technology, Paedagogy, Content, Technological Paedagogy, Technological Content, Technological knowledge and TPACK. The instruments was improved through their validity and reliability test. The TPACK performance of Prospective Biology teachers seemed low. Based on the need analysis two products will be generated. First, a lesson design and the second was a work books. This study had an implications for increasing the competence of biology education graduates. The lesson design and competency test instruments could be used for College of Biology Education and teacher professional education in developing competency test for selection system. The TPACK workbook could be used as teacher enrichment in sustainable profession development such as classroom action research, learning innovation contest, and science teacher olympiad.
Red ginger contain antioxidant that can be used to enhance the immune system of fish. A study was conducted from September to December 2021 to understand the kidney structure of Pangasianodon hypophthalmus that fed with red ginger fermented pellets. The fermented red ginger juice was obtained by juicing 500 g of red ginger in 3L water, boiled and mixed with 175 ml molasses, 65 ml yogurt and 50 mg yeast and then was fermented for seven days. The fermented red ginger juice was obtained by juicing 500 g of red ginger in days. The fermented red ginger juice was mixed with fish feed pellets, namely T1 (150 mL/Kg), T2 (175 mL/Kg), T3 (200 mL/Kg), Cn (no red ginger juice and no infection), Cp (no red ginger juice and infection by A. hydrophila). The fish were reared in 30L aquaria. Fish sample was P. hypophthalmus fingerling (10-12 cm and 5-7 g), 10 fishes/aquarium. The fish were fed 3 time a day, adlibitum. In the 30th day, A. hydrophila was injected to the treated fish (0.1.ml of 108 cells/ml, subcutan injection). In the 14th after the infection kidney sample was collected and processed for histological study. Result shown that there were differences in kidney tissue of fish in each treatment. The worst condition was obtain in Cp, while the best was in T2. The renal structure of Cp showed abnormalities such as hemorrhage, cell necrosis, enlarged Bowman's cyst, and tubular degeneration, while the T2 kidney showed mild lesions specifically haemorrhagic. This fact indicates that fermented red ginger can improve fish immunity against A. hydrophila infection
Abstract: One way to improve students' 21st century skills is through the provision of evaluation instruments based on HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) abilities. Based on the situation analysis at SMA N 1 Benai, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, many teachers have not used HOTS-based evaluation instruments due to the teacher's inability to prepare HOTS-based test questions and an evaluation system that is not yet technology-based. This service activity aims to improve the teacher's ability to compile HOTS-based evaluation questions using the Live Worksheet application. Service activities consist of 3 stages, namely, (1) preparation; (2) implementation; and (3) evaluation. The partners in this activity were SMA N 1 Benai, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province with 30 participants. The measure of the achievement of community service activities can be seen from the increased value of the pretest and posttest as well as the questionnaire responses of the community service participants. The results of the service activities obtained data that the knowledge of the training participants increased by 48.9% and the teacher was able to enter questions into the live worksheet application. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it received a positive response from the service participants reaching 95.8% in the very good category. It can be concluded that community service activities can improve teachers' abilities in compiling HOTS-based evaluation questions through the live worksheet application.
