Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis and evaluation of the existing approaches to the system of retraining and development of middle level managers of mines and opencast mining sites of the region. Increase of the overall performance of coal industry enterprises requires a more advanced system of retraining of operational and managerial personnel. Based on the historical experience of professional training of previous years, we attempted to propose an approach to organizing the process of professional development that meets the requirements of the time. Tasks for improvement of professional skills and priority areas of training were identified based on analytical data of group questionnaires. A series of indepth interviews with top managers of coal enterprises made it possible to determine the existing level of training; the content analysis of documents was used to study the content of programs, forms and methods of training; a survey was conducted to determine the level of critical knowledge of employees who received training over the past year.
The dynamics of changes in recent decades have led to the transformation of society's value system, the breaking of social stereotypes, and, consequently, the complication of the socialisation processes of young people and building their life strategy. The purpose of the study is to describe the meaningful characteristics of students life strategies, depending on the study profile. Life strategies are considered as a central element in the ability of a person to build his own life, develop and improve. Based on the study of value and life-meaning orientations (150 students of five universities of different training profiles), the current level of formation and type of life strategy was determined; the content characteristics of life strategies were studied using content analysis of future autobiographies and questionnaires. According to the results of an empirical study, it is concluded that students who have associated their choice with professions such as "man-technique" and "man-nature" are dominated by a receptive life strategy; the selection of students in specialities such as "man-artistic image" is focused on the strategy of life creation; the strategy of lifebuilding is characteristic of students studying professions such as "man-man". The discovered patterns allow us to approach the training of young specialists in more detail, in particular, based on adjusting or developing the principles of training and creating conditions for the adequate opportunity in building an individual life strategy.
Life strategies depend on value orientations. This study featured the life strategies typical of men imprisoned for major crimes. The research relied on E. E. Sapogova’s Modes of Life Questionnaire, M. Rokeach’s Value Orientations, the procedure developed by R. Inglehart and modified by M. S. Yanitskiy, D. A. Leontiev’s Meaningful Life Orientation Test, etc. The empirical part of the research involved 52 inmates who were serving their sentences in a colony-settlement. Most respondents proved to be focused on the values of socialization. However, the research revealed differences in their life modes and value orientations. Those convicted for serious crimes demonstrated false heroism and focused on external success. They had a much lower sense of life purpose, while their choice of values depended on socially approved behavior, e.g., a well-paid job, family values, responsibility, diligence, etc. The data obtained can be used to develop re-socialization programs for ex-prisoners.
