towards the its Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives of programs offered (VMGO). The survey instrument used in this study was a modified survey questionnaire from previous studies conducted by Castillo (2016). The items regarding the perception, awareness, acceptance and understanding on VMGO included in the survey instrument were based on the 2010 AACCUP Revised Instruments. The respondents of the survey were the NEUST-SIC (1325) internal stakeholders and ( 565) external stakeholders respectively. Findings show that External Stakeholders generally were least aware, least accept and understand the Vision, Mission, Golas and Objectives of NEUST. It is also revealed that the external stakeholders believed that the vision, mission, goals and objectives are not clearly stated and consistent with each other. However, they all agreed that the program objectives are clearly stated in terms of aesthetic and cultural values. Thus, it is recommended that widest dissemination of the VMGO through various forms of communication media, conduct campaigns or other related activities should be done by the NEUST-SIC community to further raise awareness among external stakeholders and thereby strengthen support.
This study aims to produce an instrument for assessing high-order thinking skills about cell division material for students in class XII that are logically valid and empirically, practical and reliable. This study uses a 4D models development model consisting of the stages of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The dissemination stage was not carried out due to time and cost limitations. The subjects of this study were three validators consisting of two lecturers at the Department of Biology, Padang State University, and one teacher at Senior High School 2 Painan. Practicality was carried out by two biology teachers and 34 students of class XII of Senior High School 2 Painan. The data collection instruments were validation sheets and practicality tests. Data were analyzed using ANATES 4.09 application. The instrument for assessing high-order thinking skills about cell division material for class XII students who get an average logical validity value of 89.02% with valid criteria, the practical average value is 91.70% with very practical criteria. The empirical validity data analysis results obtained 37 questions out of 50 questions with a value of 74%, reliability of 0.89 with very high criteria. It can be concluded that an instrument for assessing the ability to think at a higher level about cell purchasing material is logically valid and empirically valid, practical, and reliable
Environmental degradation triggers the numerous impacts of climate change. This research describes the Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of vocational high school students and university students regarding climate change to develop a Smart Trash. The research method used is descriptive method with survey technique. Essay tests are used as the research instrument. The essay questions are comprised of 12 items with 6 indicators. The research finds that the HOTS scores of both vocational and university students are in the very low category, especially in the creative-thinking aspect. The average scores of climate change HOTS for vocational and university students are 25.60 and 30.23, respectively. The research result indicates that Smart Trash as a learning medium should be introduced in the form of project assignments for both vocational and university students. This research concludes that the HOTS score is low and needs an improvement to create a Smart Trash. The suggestion for further research is to improve students’ HOTS in vocational education and universities by developing HOTS learning.
