The COVID-19 affecting the whole world has also affected education. Education has changed from face-to-face education to distance education. In distance education, it is the most basic duty of teachers to increase students’ participation in the lesson, motivate their learning and increase their motivation. Gamification, which is one of the new learning approaches that has come to the fore in the education process, can be used for active learning activities in this model. This study was aimed to determine university students’ views on gamified education. In this context, gamification activities were used in the teaching process. In this study, the qualitative research method was used. The study group of the research consists of 30 second-grade students studying at North Cyprus and some Russian Universities, in the Faculty of Education, Department of Preschool Education. The application was carried out within the scope of the computer I course in the 2020–2021 fall semester. The interview form developed by the researchers was used as a data collection tool within the scope of the research. In preparing the interview questions, the final form of the questions was given by taking the opinions of four experts. Content analysis was used in the study of the data. The findings obtained as a result of the research are given in detail in the findings and results section.
This study’s main objective is to present bibliometric data on articles related to digital educational environments (DEEs) published in the journals indexed in Scopus database between 2003 and February 2023. The data collected from 61 articles published within the study’s scope were subjected to bibliometric analysis based on six categories: number of articles and citations, most cited articles, most used keywords, most influential countries, most-important institutions, and the most important journals. This study was designed as a descriptive study and offers bibliometric network maps of the most popular papers, keywords and countries, institutions, and journals. VOS viewer was used to create network diagrams and bibliometric analyses. The bibliometric analysis showed that the most frequently used keywords were digital learning environment(s), digital educational environment. The most prolific authors related to DEE are Antón-Sancho, Vergara, Barana, and Marchisio. The results showed that DEE studies were started in 2003 and the most articles were published in 2021. This study presents a global perspective on DEEs and proposes vision for future research.
The aim of this study is to review the effects of homework in science education studies in the electronic database. Moreover, journals published in the electronic database were searched using the same keyword. 21 studies were chosen related to the effects of homework in the science education context and analyzed by means of standards obtained from the related literature. A qualitative thematic review was used in this study. All articles were downloaded and read by the researchers. Each researcher studied together to determine themes. The themes were decided as students’, teachers’, and parents’ views about homework assignments and the positive and negative effects of homework assignments on achievement, and attitudes. Results were reviewed in terms of the effects of a homework assignment in science education studies. Some implications of these results were proposed for determining and developing the effects of homework assignments in science education studies.
The pandemic environment, which emerged in 2020, makes it clear that analysis of historical experience of adaptation of expert training system during crises is very urgent. This article discusses the experience of medical schools in the Soviet Union during World War II, adaptation and rearrangement of the system under difficult crisis conditions, their results. New tasks of medical schools are determined, which occurred during the war, and methods of their solution. It is concluded that high shortage of medical doctors occurring with entry of the Soviet Union into the war was overcome by means of preservation (evacuation) and expansion (establishment of new medical schools, departments and courses, reorganization and reprofiling) of the base for medical personnel training, as well as emergency rearrangement of unified national educational plans and programs of medical doctors’ training. The principle of medical education established by the Soviet system of qualified medical personnel training during the war as well as the measures, coordinated by various federal and republican authorities regarding medical school, demonstrated their efficiency.
The article analyzes the experience of fighting epidemics and infectious diseases on the territory of the Kirov region of the USSR during the great Patriotic war. During the war period, the region experienced outbreaks of various types of typhus, scarlet fever, measles, tularemia and other infections among the population and the military contingent. The set of anti-epidemic measures was a system of effective interaction of various agencies, services and organizations of the region. The analysis of the epidemic situation is based on the study of materials from the Central and regional state archives of the Russian Federation.
