Mobots (mobile robots) remote-controlled by human operators are more and more widely used for watching and guarding. A mobot should not be controlled by an occasional person. A human being has to show specific ability to be a good mobot operator. This ability is individual for each person and can be discovered with the help of an experiment which is time-consuming and expensive. Then the problem arises whether there is a simple and cheap test of this ability or not and, which is more technical, how to find out such a test. The paper addresses this problem. The experimental data are compared with those obtained with the help of two quick and cheap tests and some correlations between them are pointed out.
A standardized observational instrument designed to measure change in gross motor function over time in children with cerebral palsy is the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM). The process of evaluating a value for the GMFM index can be time consuming. It typically takes 45 to 60 min for the patient to complete all tasks, sometimes in two or more sessions. The diagnostic procedure requires trained and specialized therapists. The paper presents the estimation of the GMFM measure for patients with cerebral palsy based on the results of the Zebris FDM-T treadmill. For this purpose, the regression analysis was used. Estimations based on the Generalized Linear Regression were assessed using different error metrics. The results obtained showed that the GMFM score can be estimated with acceptable accuracy. Because the Zebris FDM-T is a widely used device in gait rehabilitation, our method has the potential to be widely adopted for objective diagnostics of children with cerebral palsy.
The research deals with Object Oriented versions of Scalable Distributed Data Structures (OOSDDS) to store Java objects in serialized form. OOSDDS can be used as a part of distributed object store. In the paper an architecture for object version of RP* is introduced and its implementation for Java objects is given. Finally performance of the new architecture is evaluated.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
