The outcome of global warming in the form tsunami brought drastic changes in our ecosystems. With a view to understand the ill effects of global warming, an attempt was made to focus attention on the shift in diversity of phytoplanktons in the Colachel estuary.
An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of vermicompost on the growth and yield ofCapsicum annuumvar. frutescens (Kantharimilagu). Vermicompost is a rich source of vitamins, enzymes, macro and micronutrients which when applied to plants help in efficient growth. The major thrust of thisinvestigation was focused on the growth and yield of Capsicumannuumvar. frutescensusing the vermicompost prepared by the earthworm species namely Eudriluseugeniaeon the biodegradation of Banana waste (Musasps) mixed with cow dung 3:1. The present study has been carried out to evaluate thephysico-chemical characteristics, micronutrients and macronutrients, and also a comparative study was done on the effect of vermicompost on growth parameters namely root length, shoot length, number of leaf and number of flower and length of fruits in Capsicum annuumvar. frutescens. The results of the study revealed that the plants treated withvermicompostshowed C/N ratio increasedin macronutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Na, Mg and C) and micronutrients (Fe, Cu, Mg and Zn) than the plants grown in leaf mold and control. The vermicompost applied plant (Capsicum annuumvar. frutescens) showed increased root and shoot length, number of leaves, number of flowers and length of fruits than the plants which are not treated with vermicompost. Hence based on the various biochemical studies performed it is concluded that this quality of bio solid vermicompost obtained from the degradation of banana wastes by Eudriluseugeniae is an effective biofertilizer which would facilitate the increased uptake of the nutrients by the plants resulting in higher growth and yield.
Nature provides all kinds of facilities and resources to live in the planet. Nations are exploiting the environment (resources) as much as for comfort and luxury life in terms of development. The so called developments create negative impact in the planet and make the people keep away from nature. The environmental degradation is caused by combustion of fossil fuel, agricultural activities, industries, households, nuclear plants and other sources. These are polluting air, water and soil. As a result climate is changed and it leads global warming, flood, Hurricane, and other natural calamities. These incidences are led to threat to human health. The climate change leads to health problems such as malaria, dengue, yellow fever, diarrhoea, measles and other vector borne diseases, cancer, cardio vascular and respiratory diseases. The environmental degradation affects the food chain and it affects the health of the human beings. The climate change affects four grain production and it creates food insecurity. The poor people are forced to fall under malnutrition and it affects the health of the people. There is an urgent need to protect the environment and save the planet and protect the human beings from ill health.
India is one of the twelve mega-biodiversity countries in the world, which has very rich floral vegetation with variety of plants of high economic value including plants of medicinal importance. Present survey was conducted in the plant species (Trees and Shrubs) growing in their natural habitats like grounds, roadsides, open land, home gardens. Plant specimens were collected (depending upon their availability) from the area under investigation. These specimens were identified and photographed. Maximum plants have been photographed in their natural habitat whereas others in the laboratory conditions. The present study site hada high species diversity for both tree and shrub species. Probably, the high species diversity for trees and shrubs could be attributed to the many tributaries and streams that empty rich organic content and mineral resources utilized by the species for growth and production. It is therefore recommended that measures tofoster partnership between the community and other stakeholders in natural resources conservation in the areas should be encouraged to ensure sustainable natural resources management in the areas.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
