This study aimed to determine the needs of non-English Study Program students. Quantitative and survey methods were applied in this study. A questionnaire through the Graves model analysis consisting of student profile analysis, Target Situation Analysis (TSA), Current Situation Analysis (CSA), and Learning Situation Analysis (LSA) were the instruments used in collecting the data. Participants were the third-semester students of the Islamic Religious Education Study Program at Tarbiyah and Tadris Faculty of IAIN Bengkulu in 2018 to 2019 academic year. In determining the participants, the writers applied a simple random sampling technique. There were 37 students from a total population of 150 students. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, namely by calculating percentage (%) and classified data so that the needs of students in learning English could be identified. The findings were (1) the ESP approach was the right approach to be applied in learning English at IAIN Bengkulu based on the students’ age and experience in learning English, (2) the gap between the targeted needs by the campus and the students’ English skills was less, (3) the gap between what students needs and the material in the ESP English textbook was in category desire, and (4) the topic of reading comprehension text was directly related to the study of Islamic Religious Education as a student’s area of expertise.
This paper raises forms of local wisdom in the Bengkulu Malay community in terms of the religious aspects of Islam. This local wisdom was formed through acculturation, and assimilation between the traditions of Bengkulu Malay society and Islamic values. Some forms of tradition that are still maintained by the people of Bengkulu are: Tabot, Kain Besurek, Syarafal Anam, Sekujang, Dzikir Marapulai, Aqiqah, Bakunob, Aksara Ulu / Kaganga Islamic style, Ndoa Hari Rayo, Nigo Day, Go to Hari, Nyudah, Kaiak Beterang, Pilgrimage of Ramadhan and Rayo Day, Ndoa Masuk Puasa, Temikang Cupik, Embes Apem, Central Date Ceremony and Giving Names, Inviting Seeds, and Kaji Subdistrict. These various local wisdoms in Bengkulu from the perspective of Islamic law are included in the ‘urf category which needs to be addressed critically. On the other hand, this kind of local wisdom is a cultural uniqueness that is also preserved because it has been Islamized through the process of assimilating culture and Islamic values.
Abstrak: Gerakan Politik Islam Versus Belanda. Sejak awal abad ke 17 Bangsa Indonesia masuk kedalam masa penjajahan yang di awali oleh bangsa Portugis dan bangsa Spanyol dalam rangka mengadakan penjajahan keliling dunia, maka sampailah bangsa-bangsa tersebut di Asia. Dengan ditemukan kompas, mesin uap, dan berdasarkan teori Copernicus bahwa bumi ini bulat, maka dimulailah penjelajahan dunia. Dari kedua bangsa itu, pertama kali muncul adanya Imperalisme kuno. Mereka bersemboyan gold (emas lambing kekayaan), gospel, (agama sebagai usaha untuk penyebaran agama dan meneruskan Perang Salib), dan glory (kekayaan yang berarti ingin menguasai daerah-daerah yang didatanginya). Hal tersebut terjadi sejak abad ke-15 dan ke-16.
Persoalan yang dikaji dalam skripsi ini, yaitu: pertama; Bagaimana sejarah masuknya Islam di Kota Bintuhan Kecamatan Kaur Selatan Kabupaten Kaur. Kedua; Apa saja jejak-jejak peninggalan Islam di Kota Bintuhan Kecamatan Kaur Selatan Kabupaten Kaur. Jenis penelitian historis (historical research) dengan menggunakan teknik bola salju (snowball) dalam menentukan informannya dan pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan rekaman. Hasil penelitian sebagai berikut: pertama; Sejarah masuknya Islam di Kota Bintuhan Kecamatan Kaur Selatan Kabupaten Kaur di bawa oleh seorang musafir Arab, bernama Sayid Ahmad bin Ali bin Syeikh Abu Bakar yang berasal dari Hadramaut, Yaman pada pertengahan abad ke-19 M di daerah Pasar Palembang (desa Air Dingin) yang sekarang dikenal dengan sebutan Kampung Masjid. Kedua; Adapun jejak-jejak peninggalan Islam di Kota Bintuhan Kecamatan Kaur Selatan Kabupaten Kaur, yakni berupa Makam Keluarga Habib Ahmad bin Ali bin Syeikh Abu Bakar terletak di desa Jembatan Dua, Makam Puyang Pinang Tawar di desa Pengubaian, Masjid Jamik Asy Syakiriin di Kampung Masjid desa Air Dingin, Masjid Tua Bandar di desa/Kelurahan Bandar, Dokumentasi Pondok Pesantren Mu’awatul Her School (MHS) yang di dapat dari H. Nuzuar Zahari Said di desa Air Dingin (Kampung Masjid), Sekolah Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) di simpang 3 (tiga) desa Pasar Lama dan yang terakhir buku lama/kitab berbahasa Arab dengan judul Penjelasan Berbagai Ilmu Dalam al-Qur’an milik Sayid Ahmad bin Ali bin Syeikh Abu Bakar.
