A massive port count WSS using planar lightwave circuit as optical input/output ports is proposed. We demonstrate a 1x93 LCOS-based WSS with less than 9.0 dB insertion loss and typically 37.0 GHz 0.5 dB passband width.
Raman amplification utilizing the second Stokes line of 1.32-wm Nd:YAG laser light in a single-mode silica fiber was observed. Raman gains of 24 dB have been obtained for l?O-/~m laser diode light in the low-loss region. In addition, the signal-to-noise characteristics of Raman amplification using the second Stokes line was investigated. As a result, it became clear that the SIN ratio was inferior to that in 1st Stokes line by about one order of magnitude.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
