This article proposes a current control loop for a 5-level three-phase inverter using MPC (Model Predictive Control). The adopted scheme allows the current control of a RL load, so that the phase currents of the load follow sinusoidal references whose amplitude can be adjusted. The method in question is presented as a way to reduce the total harmonic distortion of the inverter output current and output voltage. The system was simulated using the Simulink ® environment of MATLAB ® software. Resumo: Este artigo propõe uma malha de controle de corrente para um inversor trifásico usando MPC (Controle Preditivo por Modelo). O esquema adotado permite o controle de corrente de uma carga RL, de modo que as correntes de fase da carga sigam referências senoidais cujas amplitudes podem ser ajustadas. O método em questão é apresentado como uma forma de reduzir a distorção harmônica total da corrente de saída do inversor e da tensão de saída. O sistema foi simulado usando o ambiente Simulink ® do software MATLAB ® .
