Objectives: Teaching gross anatomy to undergraduate students has always been challenging as it lays the foundation for subsequent understanding of clinical teaching. Constant evaluation and re-evaluation, along with updating and remodeling is required to prepare an appropriate and effective clinical based, integrated gross anatomy curriculum. Feedback obtained from students is an essential tool in the process of evaluation of teaching and learning in any institution. Analysis of feedback from students along with inputs from teachers and reflections of teaching bodies can help to achieve appropriate modifications in the course content and teaching methods. Methods:This study was conducted in the form of an anonymous survey. Six hundred medical students from the 2nd to 9th semesters participated in this study. A questionnaire was circulated amongst them during college hours. The questions in the questionnaire were based on the course content, methods of teaching, quality of teaching, teaching tools, mode of assessment of students, and suggestions to improve the quality of the curriculum in relation to gross anatomy.Results: Majority (99%) of the students were willing to participate in the survey and gave their honest opinion. It was noted that, though majority of the students liked the subject and the course content, they did not like the methods and tools of teaching. A large number of students (89%) suggested that evaluation should be conducted for each course at the end of the semester. Conclusion:Feedback by students can play an important role in modification, reconstruction and delivery of an effective, integrated gross anatomy course. Student's feedback in gross anatomy teaching suggests that learning process can be improved if better teaching methods are adopted; latest teaching tools are used along with more interactive teaching sessions between students and faculty.
Background: The incus is the intermediately placed ear ossicle in the middle ear cavity between the malleus and the stapes.Materials and Methods: In present study, various measurements of incus were taken for the purpose of sexual dimorphism. Out of total 60 incus used in the present study, 30 were retrieved from the male cadavers and 30 were retrieved from the female cadavers.Results and Discussion: Mean of total length of incus, mean of total width of incus, mean of maximum distance between the tips of the processes of incus and mean of index of incus in male are more as compared to female in the present study.Conclusion: Among all the measurements taken in the present study; total length of incus and total width of incus having statistically significant difference between the male and female incus and both can be used for the sexual dimorphism of incus for Kachchhi Gujarati population of present study. Mean of total length of malleus, mean of length of manubrium of malleus and mean of length of head and neck of malleus in male are more as compared to female in the present study. Mean of index of malleus in male is less as compared to female in the present study. Among all the measurements taken in the present study; total length of malleus having statistically significant difference between the male and female malleus and it can be used for the sexual dimorphism of malleus for Kachchhi Gujarati population of present study.
Introduction: Talus, the tarsal bone of the foot, and scaphoid, the carpal bone of the hand, are homologous. Further, talus is unique in the sense that it has no muscular or tendinous attachments. The purpose of the present study was to determine whether sex or race related morphometric differences in the various measurements of trochlear articular surface of talus could be demonstrated or not.
Background:- Covid-19 has affected the normal lifestyle and emotional aspects of general population of whole world a lot. Due to longer period of lockdown, unhealthy behavior and life style measures has increased like less physical activity, loss of appetite, more fast food and junk food eating habits, sleep disturbances etc. The present cross-sectional study was conducted among 1000 (500 male and 500 female) randomly selected participants of specific age group from the various areas of Amreli city of Gujarat after taking consent for voluntary participation in the study during March- April 2022. The aim of study was to evaluate the effects of lockdowns on lifestyle and behaviour changes of people in the urban areas in Indian populations. Out of total 1000 participants, 55% were having decreased physical activity, 46.4% were having increase in gain in weight, 44.2% were having increased overall food intake, 40.2% were having increased frequency of ordering food at home, 49.6% were having increased frequency of cooking new or traditional recipes at home, 52.8% were having increased use of social media, 55.2% were having increased screen time (TV/mobile/laptop/tablet), 46.4% were having decreased sleep, 49.6% were having increased anger and 53.6% were having more stress. Unhealthy lifestyle behavior among the participants are gain in weight, increased food intake, increased frequency of ordering food at home, increased use of social media, increased screen time (TV/mobile/laptop/tablet), decreased sleep, more stress and anger. Data derived from this study can be helpful to formulate appropriate interventional measures to the key health care personnel.
