The present study compared the clinical performance of nanoparticulated resin modified glass ionomer and conventional glass ionomer pit and fissure sealant on permanent molars. Fifty patient having bilateral occlusal grooves in pits and fissures of the occlusal surface were included for this study where 50 teeth were treated with nanopaticulated resin modified and the remaining 50 teeth were subjected to conventional glass ionomer sealants. The color match, retention and marginal adaptation were assessed at 3, 6 and 12 months and statistical analysis was performed by Chi-square test to assess the difference between the two sealants; a values of <0.05 was considered as statistically significant. The results showed that although there were no significant differences between two sealants at baseline and 3 months observation period but nanoparticulated resin modified glass ionomer sealants showed better clinical performance than that of conventional glass ionomer sealants at 12 months and the differences between two sealants were statistically significant (p<0.05). It can be concluded that naqnoparticulated resin modified glass ionomer sealant exhibited better color stability, more retention, and better marginal adaptation than those of conventional glass ionomer sealants at 12 months observation period.
<p>The purpose of the present study was to assess the giomer retention following application of one step self etch adhesive and one-step self-etch adhesive plus an extra hydrophobic adhesive layer in non-carious cervical lesion. Twenty four participants having bilateral cervical lesion at the maxillary premolars teeth were selected. Following cleaning of the cervical lesions, 24 left premolar teeth were restored with giomer by using the one-step self-etch system (Group A) and 24 right premolar teeth were restored with giomer by using one-step self-etching plus extra hydrophobic adhesive layer (Group B). Participants were recalled at 6 and 15 months for evaluating the clinical outcome. The results showed that at 15 months, 18 giomer restorations in Group A and 21 in Group B were intact inside the cavity and no significant difference was found between the two groups. It can be concluded that giomer restoration used with one-step self- etching plus additional adhesive layer slightly improved the retention of the material.</p>
The purpose of this study was to compare the frequency and nature of pain between the vital inflamed (n=55) and non-vital (n=55) teeth that received single visit root canal treatment. The frequency and nature of pain were assessed as no pain, mild, moderate and severe pain on day 2 and day 7. The results showed that 76.4 and 85.5% participants felt no pain in vital inflamed teeth on day 2 and day 7, respectively. On the other hand, 63.6 and 74.5% participants felt no pain in non-vital teeth on day 2 and day 7, respectively. The remaining participants only felt mild to moderate pain. There were no significant difference between the two groups (p=0.435 on day 2 and p=0.371 on day 7). The results suggested that single visit root canal treatment is equally effective in both vital inflamed and non-vital teeth.

The teeth were brought by the patient those were healthy and intact. His medical history was non-contributory and he was tetanus immunized. He came 2 hours after the accident with the missing teeth immersed into 0.9% sodium chloride solution. On clinical examination, there were missing of both central incisors. Sockets were full of blood. On palpation, no other tooth was tender.</p>
