Darbhanga district is known as city of ponds. The present investigation was undertaken the study of the physico-chemical conditions of two perennial ponds-Maharani Pokhar and Raj Pokhar of Darbhanga city. Present study revealed that physico-chemical parameters was comparatively higher of Maharani Pokhar to other pond, Raj Pokhar. The water samples were analyzed for water temperature, transparency, pH, free CO2, chloride, carbonate, bicarbonate, magnesium, dissolved oxygen (DO) and biological oxygen demand (BOD). Higher value of physico-chemical parameters BOD, is considered to be sewage water pollution indicator for eutrophication and it also lower down the fish production.
The aim of the study was to examine the level of communication between mother-adolescent daughter regarding sexual and reproductive health in Rangpur Division of Bangladesh. A school-based cross-sectional study was conducted among four high school students attending at class 9 and class 10 in Rangpur Division. The researchers utilized Bandura's (1977) social learning theory as theoretical framework, purposive and random sampling as sampling strategy in the study. Using a standardized and self-administered questionnaire, information was collected. Microsoft (MS) Excel and SPSS v. 25 were used to analyze the collected data. More than one-third of the students (33.80%) had a poor communication status with mother regarding reproductive health issues. Other findings include: 77.78% students had a regular discussion with their mothers, 57.41% mentioned a few contents had been covered in the discussion, and 36.11% students had been experienced with onesided interaction about this.The subjects of mother-daughter interaction were often limited to issues involving the menstrual cycle. Mothers were the principal source of reproductive health information and the first point of communication after the period. The subjects covered in the communication on motherto-girl reproductive health were limited to period-related queries but the overall communications status between teens and their moms on the reproductive health problem was high. It is crucial to improve sexual and reproductive health/wellness education programs by integrating them into textbooks and implementing behavioral change communication (BCC) elements.
This study examines the coverage of environmental issues in the local newspapers of Rangpur, Bangladesh. The results are based on an analysis of the content of environmental coverage in two local daily newspapers (The Daily Juger Alo and the Daily Prothom Khobor). The result depicts that The Daily Juger Alo and the Daily Prothom Khobor published an average of 1.91 and 1.22 stories per day, respectively. The top focused issue of these newspapers was natural disaster. Almost all the 258 (89.27%) stories were published without deep investigations or in-depth analysis. However, based on the average daily coverage of environmental issues, the authors conclude that environmental journalism is a strong subfield in local newspapers of Rangpur, Bangladesh. Future studies need to consider a large number of samples.
With advancing age, there is decreased vitality and increased vulnerability to common in elderly. The present study was undertaken with the objective of examined common age-associated disorders relation to covariates such as food habit, life style, family history, nutritional status, etc. The study was randomly sample survey of 1192 urban elderly (60+) age group residing in Darbhanga (North Bihar). Results showed 1) nutritional status was found inactive with regards to physical activity showed higher prevalence of all four classes of senile dysfunction. 2) Sedentary life style seemed to be conductive for raised incidence of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, gouty arthritis. 3) Family history of obesity appeared more pronounced among females. 4) Male showed higher degree of family history in respect of diabetes followed by hypertension.
