Flea beetles collected from olive trees of Antalya Province, including the first record of the monotypic genus Lythraria Bedel, 1897 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) for Turkey 1 Monotipik cins Lythraria Bedel, 1897'nın Türkiye için ilk kaydı ile birlikte Antalya ilindeki zeytin ağaçlarından toplanan yaprak pire böcekleri Ebru Gül ASLAN 2* Medine BAŞAR 3 Summary Lythraria Bedel is a monotypic genus of leaf beetles in the tribe Alticini (Chrysomelidae: Galerucinae), with its unique species Lythraria salicariae (Paykull, 1800) distributed across the Palearctic ecozone. Lythraria salicariae was recorded for the first time from Turkey during field sampling conducted in olive grove areas of various regions in the Antalya Province. A total of 26 flea beetle species classified in 10 genera were collected by beating from olive trees, including L. salicariae. This contribution adds taxonomic and zoogeographic knowledge about L. salicariae, and brings the actual number of flea beetle species reported in Turkey to 345 across 23 genera.
This study was carried out between 2013 and 2015 in order to determine the predator and parasitoid species in olive plantations in Antalya Province ofTurkey. Samples were collected from 5 to 10 plantations in each district and 122 plantations in total. Depending on the intensity of olive production, each district was visited at least once. For the sampling, beating of branches, Steiner funnel, direct hand collection and rearing of collected juveniles to the adult stage in the laboratory were used. A total of 69 predator species in the families Carabidae (7), Cleridae (1), Coccinellidae (34), Cybocephalidae (1) and Staphylinidae (9) (Coleoptera); Forficulidae (2) (Dermaptera); Nabidae (1), Reduviidae (2), Miridae (3) and Anthocoridae (3) (Hemiptera); Chrysopidae (5) (Neuroptera); and Aelothripidae (1) (Thysanoptera); and 13 parasitoid species in the families Aphelinidae (6), Braconidae (4) and Encyrtidae (3) (Hymenoptera) were collected. The most common predator species were Heterotoma merioptera (Scopoli, 1763) (Hemiptera: Miridae), Anthocoris nemoralis (Fabricius, 1794) (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae), Nephus nigricans Weise, 1879, Chilocorus bipustulatus (L.) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae), and the most common parasitoid species was Ooencyrtus telenomicida (Vassiliev, 1904) (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae). Of the species identified in this study, 33 were recorded for the first time in olive plantations in Antalya Province.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
