Badminton is an Olympic sports branch requiring high performance. This study is conducted in order for revealing how the number of steps of badminton athletes is distributed in front, middle and back courts in each rally, and the role that the number of steps plays in terms of winning or losing the competition. The sample group of the study comprises of 8 single-male and 8 single-female matches in European Junior 19 Championship organized in Turkey in 2013. 56,619 steps in total in 1203 rallies were examined within the scope of the study.Badminton court was divided into three main parts as front, middle, and backcourts, and all steps were classified and counted according to these three parts. Field length and width of each part is 2.23 m x 5.18 m, and the total of each part was determined as 11.91 m 2 . Image recording for this study is accomplished by using two Panasonic SDR-H20 cameras. Percentage, arithmetic average, standard deviations were used in the analysis of data, and M ann Whitney U test was used as a non-parametric test for the significance test of the difference between two averages. It was revealed in the study that there is a significant gender difference in the number of steps taken on the front and middle courts (z=, 034, P<0.05, z=, 029, P< 0.05). There was no significant difference between genders in terms of the number of steps taken in the backcourt and the total number of steps (z =, 217, P>0.05, z =, 153, P>0.05). When the areal distribution of a number of steps in each won and lost rallies is examined, it is revealed that no significant difference exists in terms of the number of steps (z =, 188 P> 0.05).Consequently, it is determined that the total number of steps taken in each rally by athletes in international organizations is approximate in terms of won and lost rallies, and front and middle court usage were significantly different between male and female athletes.
This study was aimed at identifying the perceptions and assessments of elite taekwondo athletes toward coaching efficacy. The purposeful sample consisted of 77 elite taekwondo athletes who took part in Turkish national teams, won prizes in Turkish championships or prspective promising athletes. The research data were gathered by using the "Athletes' Assessment of Coaching Efficacy Questionnaire", a 5-point Likert type questionnaire that comprises 26 questions and was adjusted to Turkish and developed by Salman (2012) based on the "Coaching Confidence Questionnaire" developed by Feltz et al. (1999). The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the questionnaire was .967. The study used the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) and Barlett's test to explain the suitability of the research data for explanatory factor analysis, and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value was found .907. To analyze the data, t test, One-way ANOVA and Tukey's test were performed. No significant difference was found between the groups for coaching efficacy belief based on age group and training age (p>0.05). There was a significant difference in favor of men in all dimensions in relation to gender (p<0.05). As for sports career and national team participation, the study found a significant difference between the all groups (p<0.05). According to the results of the study, the athletes expressed their coaches were sufficient in terms of technique and strategy while they had some deficiencies in character building and motivation.

Teacher training and education is a very difficult and demanding process. Training qualified and elite teachers require even greater efforts. Today, training qualified and elite teachers cannot be achieved only by implementing the curricula to the letter. Curricula must be constantly supported with programs such as high level seminars, symposiums, workshops, etc. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of such activities on the professional development of students. As part of a project called 'Community Leaders Are Coming' (CLC) conducted in cooperation between the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Education of Middle East Technical University (METU) and Çankaya Rotary Club, a series of seminars on education, science, arts, painting, music and sports were held in the past six weeks. In the seminars, 14 high level speakers specialised in their respective areas offered a total of 41 hours training that included visits to historical sites, opera and ballet performances, leadership training and practices. 136 students in the faculty of education joined the project, and 60 of them received a certificate after evaluations. Following the seminars, a 5-point Likert type questionnaire with 30 questions was administered to the participants to assess the project. The Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient for the questionnaire was 0.82. To analyse the data, the study used descriptive statistics, the Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test. The study found that the prospective teachers achieved significant professional learning outcomes through such activities and hoped that these programs would continue while they all agreed similar programs should be held also for students in other education faculties.
