"Advances in information technology and bank consolidation have altered the way banks operate by necessitating that banks control costs and provide services efficiently to remain competitive. Given the unique role bank operations play in the transmission of monetary policy, a key unresolved question is whether bank efficiency alters monetary policy outcomes. Using a stochastic frontier approach to measure cost-efficiency and panel data of U.S. bank balance sheets, we show that banks with greater cost-efficiency are more sensitive to monetary shocks". Launched in the year 2000, the so‐called Dortmund Project was a 10‐year local development initiative aimed at creating 70,000 new jobs and redeveloping the old industrial sites in Dortmund, a city in the Ruhr area of Germany. The project's proclaimed vision of a ‘new Dortmund’ is seen as a part of a new imaginary. This article uses a praxeological perspective to work out the enactment practices in this imaginary, viewing them as various nexuses of doings and sayings. In doing so, it stresses the relevance of the production and influence of different reports in this process and seeks to offer an insight into the complexity of the setting in which this imaginary was enacted.
Abstract-Fast thermal maps are a crucial component for many green data center design techniques. However, most state of the art work on thermal mapping ignores critical temporal aspects of thermal behavior and relies on modeling assumptions, such as the steady state assumption, that can reduce their accuracy and cause heat-induced performance throttling when used for task scheduling. These problems have the potential to affect the energy savings projected by such models. This paper introduces a fast thermal modeling technique that captures the transient behavior necessary to improve thermal prediction capability while retaining the fast thermal model required for many green data center design paradigms. This model is compared against Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations (using OpenFOAM) and an open platform framework, namely BlueTool.
