Implementation of the Stage 2 Disinfectant/Disinfection Byproducts Rule has increased the necessity for a utility's operations staff to better understand what parameters affect disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation. To address this problem, a model was developed to manage water age from a 5‐mil‐gal below‐hydraulic‐gradient storage tank that feeds back into a clearwell at Pawtucket (R.I.) Water Supply Board's new water treatment facility. The article discusses process flow, black‐box model, model calibration, storage tank water age, model estimation, and modeling DBPs.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
