Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the whole world, including Slovakia, there were changes in people's habits and consumer behavior, as well as an intervention in a healthy lifestyle. As a result of the extremely rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, habits have changed in terms of consumer behavior and health, which has also affected young people's lives. The main objective of this study was to identify consumer behavior of young people including their lifestyle, eating habits, and purchasing behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, 300 respondents up to 35 years participated in the questionnaire survey. Nonparametric and multivariate statistics were applied. The results showed that young respondents did not record decrease in physical activity nor increase in weight. However, the majority of them increased the consumption of nutritional supplements. The most important factors during purchase of healthy food were the taste from previous experiences and the quality. Furthermore, respondents indicated that they did not record an increase neither in using online platforms for fast food delivery nor purchasing food online.
Young people are often exposed to various life situations that gradually come during their lives. The quality of life of young people in Slovakia is conditioned by several areas of social policy therefore, these issues are very important for research. The aim of the paper is to point out the analysis of selected factors (areas) that affect the life situations of young people in Slovakia. We pay attention to the areas of support and protection of the establishment of young families and preparation for parenthood, support of employment of young people and support of housing policy of young people. In this paper we work with the analysis of secondary data, which relate to selected monitored areas focused on young people in Slovakia. The data we use in the article are of a quantitative character. We will use the method of analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction to achieve the set goals. Another key method that we use in the paper is descriptive statistics (Rimarčík, 2007; Chajdiak, 2010; Marek, 2015). In Slovakia, the issue of young people often appears only as a political issue. In scientific discourses, the issue of young people is addressed in isolation, as evidenced by several contributions from the authors. The authors of this paper present the problems of selected factors (areas) influencing the perspectives and reality of young people in Slovakia in an integrated manner.
In the paper we focus on the target group -students with specific needs. These are students with disabilities. We describe individual disabilities, the creation of a Support Centre for Students with Special Needs. We focus on its activity, mission. We describe what support services are provided to students with specific needs. The need for support services for students with special needs is mapped by faculty coordinators, who work closely with the university coordinator. What support services are provided to students with special needs is regulated by legislation, the Higher Education Act. We present the number of students with special needs for the last five years: from 2016/2017 to 2020/2021. In this paper we present a picture of good practice focused on the intervention of students with special needs at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava with emphasis on the Faculty of Social Sciences University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. What is the intervention we obtain on the basis of interviews with the Vice-Rector for Education, the head of the Support Centre for Students with Special Needs and the selected students with special needs of the Faculty of Social Sciences University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. Our findings from the testimonies of participants, students with specific needs we will then be implemented in practice.
Student radio stations are an important part of the media environment in Slovakia. Our research focused on obtaining information on the functioning of these stations, including their legal regulation, training of new members and formal integration into university structures. Student radio stations have several rights and obligations secured by the new Slovak Media Act and can be classified as community radio stations. Students are mostly mentored and apprenticed by senior radio colleagues for a semester or a whole year to hone their communication skills, create scripts and master broadcasting techniques. Student radio stations are under the umbrella of, or are part of, a university, but focus on student topics in content and do not serve as a medium for a given educational institution. The topic for discussion remains whether the student radio stations are fulfilling their legal obligations and whether they are interested in applying for a radio broadcasting licence. The qualitative research carried out in this study shows that the majority of radio stations in Slovakia have advertisements on air, mostly in the form of barter, and the principles regarding commercial media communication are not always followed. A big question mark is the possibility of obtaining a radio broadcasting licence, as the current legislation may be too restrictive for student radio stations. Overall, the research has shown that student radio stations are an important part of the media environment and can provide students with valuable experience and knowledge in media work.
