This study is aimed to develop teaching materials, which is an English module for Elementary School Teacher Education Programs in Indonesia based on the integrated language skill approach. A number of 75 respondents from the Elementary School Teacher Education Programs at three universities participated in this research, they are from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha in Bali, Universitas Mulawarman in Samarinda, and Universitas Negeri Manado in Manado. At the Elementary School Teacher Education Programs, no book with a practical model of integrated language skill is available at these universities. In collecting and analyzing the data, this study combined the research and development (RD) model of Gall et al. (2003). The process comprised four stages to develop this module, they are (1) preliminary studies and needs analysis, (2) product design and development, (3) evaluation, field test, and product revision, (4) and product refinement and dissemination. The data was gained through three instruments from questionnaires, interviews, and formative tests to measure the mastery of English teaching materials for primary school teacher education. The result of this study demonstrated that the module is feasible and effective for English Elementary School Teacher Education Programs at the three universities.
The study was conducted with the aim of analyzing and discussing the use of language in the text of the news discourse on the liputan6.com page on the dissolution of the BSNP (National Education Standards Agency) which was published on September 3, 2021 using the framework of Theo Van Leeuwen's critical discourse analysis model. This research is qualitative research that uses descriptive methods. The data taken in this study uses content analysis. In addition, this research also refers to the study of literature in the form of journals, books and other literature so that a comprehensive and holistic discussion of the research topics raised is obtained. The results of the discussion obtained from this study are based on the category of exclusion and inclusion strategies according to Theo Van Leeuwen. Categories of exclusion strategies include pasivation, nominalization and replacement of sentence clauses while inclusion strategy categories include differentiation-inference, objectivation-abstraction, nomination-categorization, nomination-identification, determination-indetermination, assimilation-individualization and association-dissociation. With an analysis of the use of this category of exclusion and inclusion strategies, audiences can understand how the emphasis of marginalized actors, actors who are championed and power relationships on the process marginalizes or fights for these aspects.
Pada kenyataannya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa masih rendah karena siswa merasa cepat bosan dalam proses belajar. Makalah ini memaparkan hasil penggunaan metode CIRC pada kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Metode ini digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang diperoleh melalui studi literatur. Menurut beberapa literatur dan penelitian yang dilakukan mengenai penggunaan metode CIRC, terjadi peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Penggunaan metode CIRC dapat dikatakan sangat berhasil dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa.
Tulisan ini akan menyajikan sebuah paparan tentang konstruksi kosubordinasi bahasa Indonesia dari sudut pandang fungsionalisme van Valin. van Valin membagi hubungan klausa ke dalam tiga jenis: koordinasi, subordinasi, dan kosubordinasi. Kosubordinasi merupakan rangkaian aktivitas berurutan dari suatu konstruksi yang dilakukan oleh partisipan. Hubungan ini menyerupai koordinasi, tetapi tidak dapat berdiri sendiri sebagai suatu klausa bebas karena klausa yang satu terikat pada yang lain. Hubungan ini menghasilkan relasi semantik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan data yang bersumber dari Kompas periode Januari dan Maret 2018. Berdasarkan penelusuran terhadap data, ditemukan beberapa relasi makna yang terdapat dalam konstruksi kosubordinasi bahasa Indonesia, yaitu relasi bermakna tujuan, fase, wacana tidak langsung, jussive (ekspresi perintah, permintaan, atau tuntutan), penyikapan awal, kognisi, dan persepsi tidak langsung.
School is one place to instill character and develop potential students, both physical and spiritual potential. The main task of the school is to grow and develop the character of students to become more mature, both mature in knowledge, individually, and socially. The primary indicator of maturity is the ability and willingness to be responsible for the choice of thoughts, attitudes, and behavior. These three maturities are a reflection of the level of character quality of students. Therefore, the more mature students, both adult knowledge, individual and social, the more relevant students are. The aim of developing student characters is to have independent, responsible, creative, innovative and adaptive competencies towards the dynamics of the internal and external world. Such character development should be carried out in a planned, systematic, and measurable manner using well-tested approaches and methods. Each school can make many choices; of course, it must be adjusted to the vision, mission, and goals of the school.
