The realization of the process of treatment of organic radioactive waste (RW) containing tributilphosphate (TBP) in hydrocarbon solvent under the laboratory conditions is considered in this work. The main parameters of the process have been investigated as well as the characteristics of the final process product — sodium-aluminiumphosphate glass matrix.
In this paper the method of activity measurement of spent radionuclide sources (SRS) based on Co-60 and Cs-137 placed in well-type storage facilities, in order to forecast the SRS activity which can be placed at this facility is described. The distribution of the absorbed dose through the absorption material is measured with the help of the described absorption spectrometer. This information allows determining the activity of individual radionuclides with the help of mathematical methods.
For many years FSUE “RADON” has been dealing with decommissioning of nuclear facilities, comprehensive engineering and radiation surveys, remediation of territories contaminated with radioactive nuclides as a result of industrial or scientifi c activities or radiation accidents. Extensive knowhow and knowledge have been accumulated in this fi eld to date with typical problems hindering proper execution of these activities being identifi ed. This article summarizes the experience of FSUE “RADON” in the fi eld of decommissioning and remediation with typical problems being analyzed and relevant measures proposed to address them.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
