>> In this study, a shaking table test was performed for the evaluation of water extinguishing facilities. Water extinguishing facilities, such as a general pipe, a seismic pipe (Loof type) and a pump, were used in the experiment. This captured the dynamic characteristics of water extinguishing systems by earthquake records at El-Centro with a 50%, 70%, 100%, 120% level. As a result, seismic type facilities have excellent seismic performance compared to general facilities. By using the acceleration response spectrum, not only is the performance evaluation of water extinguishing facilities able to be determined, but also the deformation of facilities in low earthquake levels can be known. This proposed approach can determine the seismic performance evaluation of water extinguishing facilities and verify seismic performance criteria.
Subway is a representative public transportation that safety, above all, must be ensured. Therefore, subway stations need to be promptly maintained through the early detecting of damage conditions to guarantee the structural health and passengers' safety. However, it could be easily damaged by internal or external loads such as ambient train vibrations and even earthquake loads. For this reason, in this paper, authors suggest the structural-health evaluating algorithm based on the statistical pattern recognition techniques such as supervised and unsupervised learning method. And, also the numerical studies of Chungmuro station was carried out to verify the applicability of it into the structural-health evaluation of station structures.
Machinery noise control along the path can be classified into three approaches, namely, by enclosure, absorption, and vibration isolation. The transmissibility of a vibration isolation mounting is given by the ratio of transmitted force to foundation and the excitation force, whereas the insertion loss is obtained by the ratio of forces at the foundation without and with isolation mounting. The performance of a vibration isolation system is usually described using transmissibility which depends on the isolation system parameters with the machine considered as a rigid mass. However, the insertion loss of a vibration isolation system depends on the system parameters and source impedance, which accounts for the nonrigid characteristics of the machine. The nonrigidity of the machine can also be characterized through a base plate supporting the machine. This study deals with analysis of a system consisting of machine, isolation mounting, and rigid foundation in terms of insertion loss and transmissibility using a single degree of freedom model. Such studies would be useful in isolation mounting design for reducing machinery vibration and noise.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
