In this paper, we introduce an H.264-based video streaming system based on hybrid platforms. Namely, the encoder and the decoder run on DSP and PC platform respectively whilst IP network acts as the communication channel. Due to the high complexity of H.264, fast coding algorithms are adopted and new approaches proposed during the implementation of the system. In addition, code-level optimization is applied to the key modules of the codec for further speedup. The overall performance indicates that the system proposed and developed has successfully reached the aim of real-time H.264 video streaming.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
