In this work, we propose a normally transparent polymer‐networked liquid crystal (PNLC) mode to use as a transparent display with energy saving, high contrast ratio, easy manufacturing process (Polyimide‐free). In this system, we adopt a homeotropic alignment material (HAM), which serves as both vertical alignment inducer and photopolymerizable reactive mesogen (RM). With no polarizers, the ground state shows clear transparency, and applying voltage induces an opaque scattering state successfully. By using double‐sided UV irradiation strategy, we can minimize hysteresis on voltage‐dependent transmittance. we believe the proposed concept will open a way to reach a novel transparent display with high transparency.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
