Background: The pronation position is a forced position on the stomach that is used in cases of acute respiratory failure. aim: Describe and analyze the effect of pronation position during artificial lung ventilation on ventilation parameters. Methods: Qualitative research by means of case study. In the course of intwensive care the patient was monitored and nursed by one of the authors of this study. Based on approval by the medical facility in question pictures were taken with regard to keeping the patient anonymous. In the course of treatment and on its ending description and analysis of the results were conducted and entered into the patient´s file. results: This case study confirms the goal. The pronation position of particular patients improved ventilation parameters with decrease in pCO2 and stabilization pO2. There was a quick effect and improved oxygenation within a short period of time (within 48 hours) from being admitted to intensive care with mild adverse effects on returning from the pronation position (GIT stagnation, acracyanosis of the limbs with starting ischemic defects on the toes, eye chemosis). conclusion: Prevalent positive of the pronation position in this patient led to stabilization of his health condition within 72 hours from being admitted to intensive care. Then it was possible to move him to a subsequent care bed for further treatment. The use of the pronation position is one of the possible solutions when there are not enough intensive care beds and staff in times of a covid pandemic. However, it is necessary to perform further monitoring to compare the pros and cons of this method.
