In the present study, a polymeric powder, synthesised using methacrylic acid as the functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross-linker, was used as a highly selective sorbent in a molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction cartridge to extract penicillin G from milk samples. Detection was performed using high performance liquid chromatography. The proposed method was used to determine penicillin G in the milk matrix in the range of 3-1000 ng/mL (limit of detection 2 ng/mL) with relative recoveries of 81-90% (relative standard deviation 2.14-4.35%). Finally, the calibrated method was used to quantify penicillin G residue in commercial pasteurised milk samples.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
