The angularis oris axial pattern buccal flap is an option for reconstruction of large defects of the hard palate. Survival of the flap can be improved by removal of teeth likely to cause occlusal trauma to the flap's pedicle. In the event of distal flap necrosis, the repair may be salvaged by rotation of the remaining flap into the defect, following establishment of vascular supply from adjacent tissue.
