Productivity is an indicator for a country’s competitiveness. This paper analyzes the comparison competitivenesss of Indonesian workers relative to its competitiveness in several ASEAN countries. At the end of this paper, is expected to provide some policy recommendations that should be carried out by Indonesian Government to encourage an increasing of their labour competitiveness in ASEAN. This paper uses comparative analysis techniques. The secondary data was collected from the APO, ILO, UNDP, BPS.The result is, Brunai has the highest level of labour productivity even though it is decreasing. ASEAN has a trend of increasing the labour productivity during 1970-2016 period. Labour productivity in ASEAN tends to increase by almost 4 times from USD 6,2 thousand per worker in 1970 to USD 23,4 thousand per worker in 2016. During the 1970-2016, the labour productivity growth of ASEAN has continued to decline. During the 1970-2016, the labour productivity per hour in ASEAN increased from 2,8 percent in 1970 to 10,9 percent in 2016. The highest labour productivity growth per hour in ASEAN was achieved by Malaysia in 1990-1995 amounted to 6,5 percent, in contrast, the lowest of labour productivity per hour in ASEAN was achieved by Brunei Darussalam at 0,3 percent.
Covid19.go.id data as of September 2 nd , 2020 shows that in the Eastern Indonesia Area (EIA), including ten provinces. This increase indicates that the more tracing, testing, and treatment areas, the more case finding increases. Some areas need to be watched out because they experience a false sense of security. This study aims to determine the Covid19 effect on economic growth and employment in the Eastern Indonesia Area that began to be felt in the second quarter of 2020. This paper uses a comparative analysis technique. Relative analysis techniques among provinces in EIA allow this paper to compare the Covid19 effect on economic growth and employment in ten areas in EIA and dissect each region's strategies in overcoming Covid19 transmission and prevention. Comparative techniques are also useful for comparing key factors that can promote and accelerate economic recovery before, during, and after the Covid-19 pandemic.
This study aimed to determine the effect of economic growth, education level, health status, and inflation on Sulawesi and Maluku Islands' poverty in the 2010-2019 period. Data were analyzed using the panel data regression with the Random Effect Model (REM). The results indicated that economic growth positively and significantly affected the poverty rate, while the average length of schooling and life expectancy had a negative and significant impact. Conversely, inflation negatively but insignificantly affected poverty in Sulawesi and Maluku Islands.
Fiscal decentralization provides many advantages for the regions to set their own fiscal capacity. The local government has an opportunity to improve its economy efficiently because the government has provided useful knowledge in the allocation of resources. The Government may well provide public goods and services in accordance with the expected public. This study aims to analyze the impact of fiscal decentralization and economic growth on inequality in the region of 11 regencies/city in Central Sulawesi Province during the five-year implementation period, from 2011 to 2015 year. Variables examined its effect on inequality of the region is the degree of fiscal decentralization, the local tax rate, the amount of labor, as well as the economic growth rate of 11 regencies/city in Central Sulawesi Province. The results of the analysis conclude that fiscal decentralization has positive and statistically significant for 27.76245 on inequality between districts region/city in Central Sulawesi Province. During the 5 years of the implementation of fiscal decentralization in Central Sulawesi Province is empirically provable that the economic growth of 11 regencies/city in Central Sulawesi Province to increase each year, but the graph of economic growth increased annually actually increase inequality of the region that occur between regencies/city in the Central Sulawesi Province.
