The emergence of a ‘new normal’ life caused by pandemic Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) leads to consumer perception and business practices changes. However, there is limited data on the current market demand and condition on consumer purchase intention of organic food associated with food safety knowledge. Thus, this study aimed to examine consumer perception toward organic food in a new normal life. A total of 330 valid responses were received for analysis using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and PROCESS. The data were collected in Malaysia using an online questionnaire mainly because of physical distances and Movement Control Order (MCO). The finding revealed that personal attitude, perceived social pressure, and perceived autonomy influence organic food purchase intention in a new normal life. However, it is not perceived as green trust. Besides, food safety knowledge significantly moderates the relationship between personal attitudes toward organic food purchase intention. The finding is valuable for current producers, marketers, and the government body to understand the changes in consumer purchase intention in a new normal life and assist future planning and operationalising to protect, develop and maintain the organic food industry.
This study examines how mobile technology adoption influences customers' intention to book hotel rooms via smartphone. This study empirically incorporated perceived enjoyment and perceived value in the modified Technology Acceptance Model (m-TAM) and tested it as a unified model. Partial Least Square-Structural equation modelling (PLSSEM) was applied to estimate the proposed research framework based on the survey data collected from 386 travellers who booked hotels via their smartphones. The structural model confirms perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment, and perceived price value significantly influence consumers' behavioural intentions toward mobile hotel booking. This study confirms that TAM can be extended and employed to predict and explain the acceptance of the new technologies in service industries. This study also provides valuable theoretical contributions in developing and testing related theories and practical implications to hotel operators, online travel agencies (OTAs), and hospitality technology suppliers.
Online food ordering and delivery service are the platforms that provide a system and service to the consumer to order and buy food products from foodservice or restaurant operators. The service is an up-and-coming trend among Millennials and the trend has ballooned with the introduction of movement control order (MCO) due to the pandemic COVID-19. The consumer’s demand towards online food ordering and delivery service has increased markedly due to the prohibition of dine-in at restaurant premises. This study focuses on highlighting the factors that influence consumer’s intention to use online food ordering and delivery service. The survey questionnaires were distributed among 384 respondents that represent the customers of restaurants in Shah Alam, Selangor. Data analyses were conducted using SPSS and multiple regression analysis. Findings revealed that usefulness, ease of use, and consumer’s enjoyment are the factors that influence consumer’s intention to use online food ordering service and conclusively, usefulness is the most significant factor that affects consumer’s intention to order food via online food ordering and delivery service. The findings from this study are beneficial for foodservice or restaurant operators in improving their businesses and staying competitive.
