The present study aims at identifying the level of metacognitive thinking among a group of students with learning disabilities (LDs) in Asir region, Saudi Arabia. The present study has taken into account certain variables when investigating this issue such as age, grade, and type of learning difficulties. The sample of this study consisted of 350 students with learning disabilities from schools belong to the Department of Education in Asir Area, Saudi Arabia. To achieve the goal of the study, a scale prepared by the authors was used to measure the level of metacognitive thinking among the students. The results of the study showed that the students had a low level of metacognitive knowledge. The results have also showed no statistically significant differences in the level of metacognitive thinking attributed to age, gender, and the type of learning disability. Based on the results obtained in the present study, some suggestions and recommendations have been provided for further research on this field.
Limiting the consumption of nonrenewable resources and minimizing waste production and associated gas emissions are the main priority of the construction sector to achieve a sustainable future. This study investigates the sustainability performance of newly developed binders known as alkali-activated binders (AABs). These AABs work satisfactorily in creating and enhancing the concept of greenhouse construction in accordance with sustainability standards. These novel binders are founded on the notion of utilizing ashes from mining and quarrying wastes as raw materials for hazardous and radioactive waste treatment. The life cycle assessment, which depicts material life from the extraction of raw materials through the destruction stage of the structure, is one of the most essential sustainability factors. A recent use for AAB has been created, such as the use of hybrid cement, which is made by combining AAB with ordinary Portland cement (OPC). These binders are a successful answer to a green building alternative if the techniques used to make them do not have an unacceptable negative impact on the environment, human health, or resource depletion. The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) software was employed for choosing the optimal materials’ alternative depending on the available criteria. The results revealed that AAB concrete provided a more ecologically friendly alternative than OPC concrete, higher strength for comparable water/binder ratio, and better performance in terms of embodied energy, resistance to freeze–thaw cycles, high temperature resistance, and mass loss due to acid attack and abrasion.
Objectives: This study aimed at investigating the impact of an infographic-based training program on improving the visual motor memory among EFL students. Methods/statistical analysis: The study used a semi-experimental approach and the program was applied on 60 EFL students enrolled in the schools of the Directorate of Education in Asir region, Saudi Arabia. The students were divided into two groups: an experimental and control groups. The researcher applied the training program on students after training the teachers on how to better utilize all the elements of the training program effectively. Findings: The results showed statistically significant differences in the post-test of visual motor memory skills between the experimental and control groups, which were in favor of the experimental group. The results also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the visual motor memory posttest due to the variables of gender and interaction between group and gender. The study concluded that using infographics enhanced the participants' visual motor memory skills in learning English as a second language regardless of their gender, which indicates the appropriateness of the training program for such students. Application/improvements: The study recommended this training program to be used by EFL teachers and EFL curricula designers to consider integrating infographics in the design of these courses.
The current study aimed at identifying the challenges that English teachers face when they employ the evaluation Matrix in classes for students with learning difficulties. The study followed the descriptive-analytical method. A questionnaire was designed to meet the study objectives. the study sample consisted of 136 English teachers of the primary education level in public schools in the city of Irbid. The findings revealed that the challenges that English teachers face in employing the evaluation Matrix in classes for students with learning difficulties came with a very high degree, they also revealed the absence of differences with statistical significance between the responses of the sample attributable to the variables of gender and experience years. Furthermore, the findings showed the presence of statistically significant differences between the responses of the sample attributable to the variable of academic qualification.
Objectives: This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of a cognitive training program on promoting phonemic awareness skills on aco ustic analysis skill among students with developmental apraxia of speech (DAS) in Saudi Arabia. Methods/Statistical analysis: the semi-experimental approach was used in this study. The training program was applied on (12) male and female students from the fourth and fifth grades from schools at Abha Educational District. Data were collected through the Developmental apraxia of speech (DAS) Scale developed by the researcher along with acoustic Analysis Scale developed in the literature Data were analysed using the SPSS software package. Findings: The results of the study showed significant improvements in acoustic analysis skills of the students who received the training program compared to students who were taught using the conventional methods. The results also revealed no connection between the age of students and their interaction with the developed training program. The final mean scores of the experimental group were better than the control group as scored in the post test, which indicted the effectiveness of the developed training program in improving acoustic analysis skills among the sample of the study. Application/improvements: special education teachers can use the designed program to help students with apraxia. Future research can investigate visual analytical skills in developmental apraxia of speech (DAS) in handwriting and other areas.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
