this study presents the comparative performance of Model Predictive Controller (MPC) and PID controller in controlling temperature on Small Scale Industry Steam Distillation Pilot Plant (SSISD). PID controller were tune based on two most popular tuning which is Ziegler-Nichols tuning rule and Cohen-Coon tuning rule which denote as PID-ZN and PID-CC respectively. The performances were evaluated based on three criteria such as time constant, settling time and percentage overshoot. The simulation and real-time results revealed that the MPC controller was capable to meet desire transient response specially on providing fast settling time and minimum overshoot compared with PID. The paper contains the simulation and realtime studies of those controllers that applied in at Small Scale Industry Steam Distillation Pilot Plant (SSISD).
