Abstract-This paper reports on an ongoing research project at International Islamic University College (IIUCS), Selangor, Malaysia where students from faculty of education are consulted to explicate their experiences utilizing Learning Management System (LMS). LMS is an online learning platform enables students to acquire knowledge with the help of technologies. One focus group interview was conducted with 25 participants from Bachelor of Teaching English as a Second Language degree program. Data extracted from the verbatim was analyzed via thematic analysis. Although the data collected is limited to a small sample, participants had provided insightful feedback, which is informing that LMS is a catalyst towards empowering learners to become independent learner. In an effort to produce quality and independent learners, LMS is seen as a means to assist educators in developing quality online internet based courses and websites as well as to fulfill students' needs in acquiring information anywhere and anytime. It then concludes the adoption of LMS and puts forward suggestions for further research.
The use of teaching aids (TA) in the classroom is necessary to ensure that the teacher’s explanations in teaching and learning (T&L) process are easily comprehended by students. The TA materials used depend on the needs of the teacher in accordance with the T&L design that will be implemented. However, the use of TA is not an undemanding matter as it requires the teacher’s keenness in carrying out the plan that has been designed. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the obstacles that exist among Islamic Education Teachers (GPI) during the use of TA. Qualitative design was used to obtain interview data upon five GPIs and five GPI supervisors at the Smart School. The interview results were analysed using the NVivo 7.0 software by generating the theme of the study findings. Based on the analysis, there are eight obstacles listed by the GPIs on the use of teaching aids. All of these then form a pattern of study findings that perpetuates the two main obstacles for Islamic Education Teachers in the use of teaching aids, namely time and preparation. The results of this study are very meaningful to the Malaysian Ministry of Education (KPM), the State Education Office (JPN), and school administrators. The findings of this study show that the teachers need to be given time for the preparation to implement the planning of TA in the PdP process.
The previous convention of formal learning at school has now shifted into online learning. This shift is unavoidable due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This method of writing is based on the literature highlights obtained by the author. The biggest challenge is the move from face-to-face learning between teachers and students to online learning. This change brings positive effects to assessments that are oriented to the actual student’s achievements, be it in terms of cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills. Besides that, writing practices in the form of books, or hard copies, are converted to soft copies through the use of Google Form, Kahoot!, Padlet and the likes. The impact of the COVID-19 outbreak has forced educators to rethink their approaches, strategies and assessment activities that are more suited to online learning. In addition, assessment activities need to be altered to fit the capabilities of online learning. It must also facilitate the mastery of skills or aspects of a student in a certain subject and this will act as a guide for teachers in designing the rubrics as a means to assess students’ assignments. The outcome of this study gives the implication that the selection of students’ assignments that correspond to the topics learned proves that students are able to achieve mastery in a subject without the need of examinations, but instead guided by assessment rubrics designed by the teachers.
Teachers found it is hard to figure out what are the best approach and strategies shall be employed to create an effective learning activity that can benefit the children. Children with learning disabilities have distinctive learning difficulties, depending on each individual. Therefore, this requires modification and adaptation in the learning activities to make sure they can learn effectively. Teachers need to make adjustment to the instructions, learning materials, assessments, and activities to accommodate the children with learning disabilities. Therefore, the objective of this research is to develop the content of religious education for children with learning disabilities using fuzzy delphi. This research used method of design and developmental research approach which have three phases. In this research, the researchers focus on the second phase of fuzzy delphi. There were 20 panel experts involved in this research to rank the elements in developing religious education model. Findings showed that, all the elements such as learning style, rights of people with disabilities manners and universal design were above 70% that considered suitable and applicable. It is hoped that this model can assist and guide teachers in teaching religious education for children with learning disabilities.
This survey aimed to identify the level of implementation in the j-QAF Quranic Recitation program (6 Months Model of Khatam al-Quran, Tasmik Model, Asuhan Tilawah al-Quran and al-Quran Literacy Camp). This study used a quantitative approach (questionnaire) to gather information from 240 Islamic Education and j-QAF teachers from 24 primary schools in Kuala Selangor, Klang and Hulu Langat district in Selangor. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency, percentage and mean. Pearson's test was also conducted to examine the relationships between the implementation of these models. Generally, from the data analysis, it was found that the level of implementation in the models of Quranic Recitation j-QAF were high. The study found that there were siginificant relationships between the teachers' evaluation on the four models of Quranic Recitation j-QAF.
