An effective counselling process depends heavily on the knowledge and skills that a counsellor possesses. This covers the knowledge of the assumptions of a theory relating to the view of human nature which is covered in theory practiced. In this study the researcher utilised the qualitative methodology of content analysis using Mayring data analytics. Mayring Procedure consists of conclusion method (Summary), interpretation (Explication) and Structuring. Generally humans consist of two elements which are physical and spiritual. In Kimiya' al-Sa'adah, Al-Ghazali focuses more on spiritual than physical. This is in line with his concept of knowledge, which are physical and spiritual knowledge. The knowledge of physical is related to human interaction, including worship and other limb activities. Meanwhile spiritual knowledge is related to the muamalah (dealing with) heart. Spiritual elements are also the main momentum or drivers of bodily activity. There are several terms used by al-Ghazali to explain the viewpoint towards view of human nature in the book Kimiya’ al-Saadah, among them are physical, nafs, qalb, ‘aql and ruh. Abstrak Proses kaunseling yang berkesan sangat bergantung kepada pengetahuan dan kemahiran-kemahiran yang dimiliki oleh seseorang kaunselor. Ini meliputi pengetahuan tentang andaian sesebuah teori berkaitan sudut pandang terhadap manusia (view of human nature) yang terangkum dalam teori yang diamalkan. Dalam kajian ini pengkaji menggunakan metod kualitatif analisis kandungan (Qualitative Content Analysis) dengan menggunakan analisis data Mayring. Prosedur Mayring terdiri daripada kaedah kesimpulan (Summary), tafsiran (Explication) dan penstrukturan (Structuring). Secara umumnya manusia terdiri daripada dua unsur iaitu fizikal (jasad) dan spiritual (roh). Dalam Kimiya’ al-Sa’adah, Al-Ghazali lebih memberikan tumpuan terhadap spiritual (roh) berbanding fizikal. Ini selari dengan konsep beliau berkaitan ilmu, iaitu ilmu zahir dan ilmu batin. Ilmu zahir adalah berkaitan dengan interaksi manusia, merangkumi ibadah dan aktiviti anggota badan yang lain. Manakala ilmu batin berkaitan dengan muamalah hati. Elemen spiritual juga adalah momentum atau pendorong utama terhadap aktiviti anggota badan. Ada beberapa istilah yang digunakan oleh al-Ghazali bagi menjelaskan tentang sudut pandang terhadap manusia (view of human nature) dalam kitab Kimiya’ al-Saadah, antaranya jasad, nafs, qalb, ‘aql dan ruh.

Counselling in Malaysia began as early as the colonial era in line with the development of education in the country. The main focus of the counselling field at that time was to provide services to students, guardians and teachers in providing students for the field of work. However, the counselling field only started officially in Malaysia after the independence or more precisely in 1963. Based on literature studies conducted, it is found that researches related to religious contributions to mental health have increased since the beginning of the 21st century. In Malaysian context, there are several studies that have been focused on the importance of Islam in counselling. Using the method of content analysis, this study is conducted to achieve the objective of examining the factors that influence the development of Islamic Counselling in Malaysia. After all the data from various sources is obtained, the researcher conducts data analysis process using inductive, deductive and comparative methods. Analysis is focused on the historical aspects and developmental factors of Islamic Counselling in Malaysia. The findings show that the development of Islamic counselling in Malaysia has been identified since the early 80's. This situation is driven by several factors. Among them; (1) impact due to Islamic psychological awareness such as by Malik Badri in developing Islamic Psychology internationally; (2) the works of Hassan Langgulung; (3) the development of studies and researches in the field of Islamic counselling; (4) impact due to the movement of integrating religion into counselling internationally; and (5) recognition of the law. Further studies to see how the development of Islamic Counselling affects other areas of counselling such as family counselling, career counselling and school counselling are also needed. It should be carried out to see the true picture of Islamic counselling in Malaysia. Abstrak Kaunseling di Malaysia bermula seawal era penjajahan selari dengan perkembangan pendidikan di tanah air. Tumpuan utama bidang kaunseling ketika itu adalah memberikan perkhidmatan kepada pelajar, penjaga dan guru-guru dalam menyediakan para pelajar untuk bidang pekerjaan. Walau bagaimana pun bidang kaunseling hanya bermula secara rasmi di Malaysia setelah kemerdekaan tanah air atau secara lebih tepatnya pada tahun 1963. Berdasarkan penelitian literatur yang dijalankan didapati bahawa kajian berkaitan sumbangan agama terhadap kesihatan mental telah meningkat semenjak awal abad ke 21. Dalam konteks Malaysia ada berberapa kajian yang dibuat memfokuskan tentang kepentingan Islam dalam kaunseling. Dengan menggunakan metod analisis kandungan kajian ini dijalankan bagi mencapai objektif untuk meneliti faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perkembangan Kaunseling Islam di Malaysia. Selepas segala data dari pelbagai sumber diperolehi, pengkaji melakukan proses analisis data dengan menggunakan kaedah induktif, deduktif dan komparatif. Analisis adalah tertumpu terhadap aspek sejarah dan faktor perkembangan Kaunseling Islam di Malaysia.Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa perkembangan kaunseling Islam di Malaysia dikenal pasti bermula sekitar awal 80an. Situasi ini didorong oleh beberapa faktor. Antaranya; (1) terkesan dengan kesedaran psikologis Islam seperti Malik Badri dalam memperjuangkan Psikologi Islam di peringkat antarabangsa; (2) karya-karya Hassan Langgulung; (3) perkembangan kajian dan penyelidikan dalam bidang kaunseling Islam; (4) terkesan dengan gerakan mengintegrasikan agama ke dalam kaunseling di peringkat antarabangsa; dan (5) pengiktirafan undang-undang. Kajian lanjut untuk melihat bagaimana perkembangan Kaunseling Islam turut mempengaruhi bidang kaunseling yang lain seperti kaunseling keluarga, kaunseling kerjaya dan kaunseling sekolah juga perlu dilakukan. Ia perlu dijalankan bagi melihat gambaran sebenar kaunseling Islam yang sedang berjalan di Malaysia.

The modular learning method is essential for helping students reinforce their understanding and to enhance excellence. To demonstrate the actual impact of the module on the students' learning, it is necessary to evaluate the students' impressions and perceptions of the created module. This study aims to determine how students in the second semester of the Introduc-tion to Islamic Law (KPPI) course at Polytechnic Sultan Idris Shah perceive the application of learning module. The constructs tested in this study are learning module evaluation, learning module function and students’ ac-ceptance. The study design is descriptive by applying a quantitative approach through the questionnaire (sur-vey instruments). From a pilot study of 30 students, the Cronbach's alpha reliability value received was 0.973. This study applied SPSS 26.0 software to analyze data in the form of frequency, mean, percentage, and standard deviation. Respondents consisted of 70 second semes-ter students who took KPPI. Collectively, the research findings demonstrated that the mean and standard devi-ation of the module evaluation construct, module func-tion and students’ acceptance were high. This proves that the KPPI learning module assists students in en-hancing their comprehension, generating interest, and displaying positive acceptance. The research findings also prove that the application of learning module is still the main choice as a learning aid in creating a learning environment conducive to excellence.
