Purpose – The main objective of this paper is to simultaneously determine the moderating role of relational learning in the relationship between Innovation Capability, Total Quality Management and SMEs Performance. This study attempts to expand the insights by determining these relationships in the context of a rapidly liberalizing and developing economy; Pakistan. By conducting this research with Pakistani data, the authors can assess whether the relationship between these three strategic resources shows systematic differences to those in developed economies.Design/methodology/approach – The authors of this study utilized the data collected through survey method in Electric Fan Industry of Pakistan. Well established scales were adopted from past research in order to measure the constructs used in the study. Structural equation modeling technique was used to test the hypotheses of the study. 239 fan manufacturing firms have been included in the sample. The authors used Smart PLS version 3 for data analysis.Findings – The findings revealed that relational learning moderates the relationship between predictor and criterion variables. Contrary to the previous findings, no significant relationship between Innovation Capability and SME Performance was found to exist; however, there existed a positively significant relationship between total quality management and SME performance.Research limitations/implications – Owing to the cross-sectional time frame that the study follows, it does not infer any causality. Having been limited to only fan manufacturing industry, the study calls for further research in different industry/country perspectives.Practical implications – The study highlights policy building prospects for Pakistani government based on the principles of innovation capability and quality enhancement through collaborating with business networks and exploring the potential of relational learning to help improve overall SMEs performance.Originality/value – This study contributes to the growing body of literature on SMEs-level innovation, TQM and relational learning in developing economies like Pakistan.
The importance to raise up the number of entrepreneurs among the younger generation, especially among the university’s students has been recognized by the Government. This study seeks to link the effectiveness of business simulation with entrepreneurship interest of the students in University Utara Malaysia, main campus, Sintok. Four main objectives of the study were highlighted which is to see the relationship of perception, learning, interest and satisfaction of the business simulation on the tendency of students to venture into the business environment. The fifth objective is the combination of perception, learning, interest and satisfaction from business simulations of their entrepreneurial tendencies. The findings show that there is a significant relationship between learning, interest, satisfaction and the combination of all dimensions-dimensions of the business tendency. The findings from this study particularly useful to certain parties in the field of education and also to entrepreneurial developers.
In this study the authors tried to identify mediating role of innovation and moderating role of size of enterprise in the relationship Making a living with lawful earnings is possible by working for others, becoming self-employed or employing others. This paper aims at providing insights into the role of structural support and the use of E-learning such as business simulations games in developing entrepreneurial intentions of university students. The underlying theories of experiential learning, constructivist learning theory and bloom’s taxonomy are discussed in relation with the objectives of this study. The response of 252 university students from Malaysia was collected through self-administrative survey using simple random sampling technique. The results of PLS-SEM demonstrate a significant positive impact of E-learning resources and perceived structural support from Government in developing entrepreneurial inclinations of students at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). The present study provides an overview and highlight the role assumed by the institutions of higher education through adoption of E-learning resources in order to nurture entrepreneurship among young generation. Additionally, keeping in view the role of higher education in socio-economic development, recommendations have also been proposed for universities and policy makings institutions to cope with the current challenges of higher education. The findings of this study have important implications of enhancing entrepreneurial capacity in Malaysia.
Large volume of educational data has led to more challenging in predicting student's performance. In Malaysia currently, study about the performance of students in Malaysia institutions is very little being addressed. The previous studies are still insufficient to identify what factors contribute to student's achievements and lack of investigations on exploring pattern of student's behaviour that affecting their academic performance within Malaysia context. Therefore, predicting student's academic performance by using decision trees is proposed to improve student's achievements more effectively. The main objective of this paper is to provide an overview on predicting student's academic performance using by using data mining techniques. This paper also focuses on identifying the pattern of student's behaviour and the most important attributes that impact to the student's achievement. By using educational data mining techniques, the students, lecturers and academic institution are able to have a better understanding on the student's achievement.
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) received great attention on its contributions in the policies of economic and social development either in the countries that have developed or in developing countries. However, there has not been much research focuses on performance of SMEs in Malaysia especially in manufacturing sector. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between entrepreneurial competencies, organizational structure and SMEs performance in Northern Malaysia. A random sampling technique is used by using questionnaires and data is analyzed by SPSS 19. The present study aimed at providing an overview of the role that is assumed by the entrepreneurs whereas recommendations have been proposed for practitioners and researchers to cope with the challenges that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are facing currently. Finally, this study will provide important information on the management and organization structure practices of entrepreneurship among SMEs in Malaysia.
