Abstract. The closeness of the experimental and theoretical values enables the development of an in situ characterization technique to monitor and analyze the production of gold nanoparticles (NPs), overcoming the use of high-end and expensive instrumentation. Gold NPs below the radius size of 10 nm were successfully synthesized in accordance with a few working parameters of pulse laser ablation in a liquid technique. In this report, the size, shape, concentration, and aggregation properties of gold NPs were estimated by the Mie-Gans model based on a reliable and interactive real-time absorption spectroscopy. The major features can be an important means toward determination of efficient process measures, productivity of gold NPs generated, and efficiency of the mass ablation rate. The accuracy in the measurement is confirmed via transmission electron microscopy analysis.
We proposed a new approach to generate slow light transmission with large bandwidth and high buildup factor by using a soliton pulse propagating within integrated ring resonator circuit. The system consisted series of micron-size ring resonator fabricated by using nonlinear InGaAsP/InP material that are laterally coupled together. For convenience of analysis, optical transfer function for this model is obtained by using z-transform method. Slow light performances were modeled and discuss in this paper. Intensity buildup induced within the series of rings located at left and right sides of the system while strong nonlinear Kerr effect and mutual coupling leads to the spreading frequency bands within the device. Numerical simulation verifies that signal pulse with 45 ps relative delay time and bandwidth of 5.9 GHz (47 pm) are obtained at the communication wavelength around 1550 nm for a 100 ps signal pulse.
Industrial training for undergraduates in Malaysian universities is widely practiced. It provide hands-on experience and up-to-date information to the graduates who are about to enter the competitive job market. Many researchers have reported the impact of industrial training on students’ performance. However, studies focusing on the preceptor perception of student performance are lacking. This study was done with the objective to evaluate UiTM’s Bachelor of Pharmacy student’s performance and to investigate preceptors’ perception towards them during industrial training. Questionnaires were distributed to selected pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, traditional and complementary medicine industries (n=55). The outcome of these questionnaires was analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The analysis revealed that the preceptors have good viewpoint of these final year students. Nearly all respondents agreed that 82% of these students showed excellent performance during their industrial training. On the scale of 1-10, almost all elements tested showed the mean score of equal or more than 8. Nevertheless, students need to improve on their entrepreneurial and managerial skill. This study proved that the preceptors selected from various industries showed a favorable outlook towards the performance of UiTM pharmacy graduates, however more effort need to be done in order to improve their entrepreneurial and managerial skills
