The chemical diffusion coefficients and the solubility limits of copper in iron were determined in the temperature range 690-1OS0'C by electron probe microanalysis. Specimens were large-grained polycrystals for the y-iron and single crystals for the a-iron. The iron contained less than II wppm of impurities and had a resistivity ratio R293 oKI R., OK up to 8700. The results for the diffusion coefficients are (in cm 2 /s) D L = O.1gexp( -65100/R T) and DCu = 300exp( ~67 800/R T). An anomalous decrease of the diffusion below the Curie point was observed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
