The present study has been conducted to analyse the effects of various pool diameters on the measurement of heat release rate (HRR) of heptane fire using large scale cone calorimeter (LSC). The burning rate which is the major parameter for HRR compared with the previous model suggested by A. Hamins. The combustion efficiency for heptane by oxygen consumption method is about 91%, which is almost same with the previous results of 92% suggested by J. Gore. The convective HRR by enthalpy consumption method was 54% lower than HRR by oxygen consumption method. This results are practical use for establishing the reliability of heat release rate for fire experiment.
This study aims to construct the performance data for smoke-control zone and realize the safety of injection and pressurization room which is composed of supply air pressure zone, vestibule, smoke-control zone and stairwell. To obtain this, smoke-control system and the device of the opening-closing force of fire door are manufactured. This subject is the analysis of the closing force, angular velocity and fire door size in the case of fixed volume flow rate. Based on the results, closing force increased as fire door size and closing angular velocity increases. Also, it is remark that there exists a critical angular velocity, which maintains constant maximum closing force even though the angular velocity increases more.
In this study, the effects of various disk shapes of hydrant on the pressure drop are experimentally and numerically analyzed. The test methods for measuring pressure drop of hydrant are comply with standard of Underwriters Laboratory (UL). The hydrant as used in this study has one inlet, diameter 150 mm, and three outlet, 114.3 mm diameter for one outlet and 63.5 mm diameter for the others. The pressure of the hydrant are measured in the range 760 L/min~2,270 L/min for 63.5 mm outlet and 3,030 L/min~6,060 L/min for 114.3 mm outlet. Also, the numerical results of pressure drop are compared with the experiments to verify the accuracy and to analyze the of various valve shape of hydrant on the pressure drop. The engineering parameters, flow coefficients, are reduced from 181.57 to 136.35 (L/min/kPa 0.5 ) with inclined angle of disk from 0 o to 45 o . These results are able to practical use for design hydrant to minimize pressure drop.
