In e-learning area, the content development method is one of the most important research topics. This paper proposes a presentation method of visual contents (a text, a still image) in synchronization with narration (sound content) and a pointer to make the efficiency of the resource allocation of cognitive memory capacity increase, and make the transmitted amount of information maximize, based on a human's cognitiveinformation-processing model "Dual Channel model." (6)Video + text} in e-learning, we performed some control experiments (measure the point of fixation for elearning students by an eye mark recorder, memorization and a contents understanding test and the questionnaire) with or without pointer. The results showed the validity of this model and the effectiveness of the proposed content development method in elearning.
Under various contents presentation environment {(1)Narration, (2)Text (with narration / without narration), (3)Still images, (4)Still images + text (with narration / without narration), (5)Video, and
SUMMARYThis paper describes a lipreading system using a color extraction method and several eigenspace techniques. To detect a precise mouth position, the system first finds the rough position of the mouth by the color extraction method and then determines the precise position using an eigentemplate technique. To describe the mouth shape change, we developed an eigen waveform technique. The detected precise mouth position improves the accuracy of the eigen waveform, which results in a high recognition rate. We constructed an automatic lipreading system and an experiment revealed that this system recognizes 85% of 35 words and 69% of 100 words.
SUMMARYIn this paper, the authors propose a generalized software reliability model based on a nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP), on the assumption that software fault discovery times follow a generalized gamma distribution. The proposed model encompasses representative NHPP models developed before now and is also consistent with probabilistic debugging theory based on the concept of generalized order statistics. Furthermore, in this paper, the authors propose a parameter estimation method which combines the EM (Expectation-Maximization) algorithm and a heuristic solution method, as an effective parameter estimation method for the generalized gamma software reliability model.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
