The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the Assurance Relevance Interest Assessment Satisfaction (ARIAS) strategies set with Numbered Heads Together (NHT) on students' learning motivation. This quasi experimental study employed a pretest-post test nonequivalent control group design. The population of the research was all the eleventh graders who were enrolled in the science classes of public senior high schools (SMA) in Makassar, Indonesia. There were 21 schools in total. Random sampling technique was used to select 78 participants who were divided into two groups of treatment: 39 students for each treatment. Research instruments were developed based on the Attention, Relevance, Confident, Satisfaction (ARCS) model. Data on students' learning motivation was collected using a questionnaire that was distributed before and after learning. Research data was analyzed using a descriptive statistic and the analysis of covariate (ANCOVA) statistic. The results of the research suggest that learning strategies have an effect on students' motivation. Compared to ARIAS direct learning model, NHT-ARIAS is more potential to improve students' motivation.Keywords: motivation, ARCS, ARIAS, NHT, learning model, assessment, students INTRODUCTIONBiology learning in senior high school (SMA) emphasizes on promoting students' process skills. The purpose of this research is to reveal the activity of management realization and personel education and find an effort done to increase the quality education by education management and personel education. The kind of this research is descriptive qualitative research in Al-Mansur Biangloe boarding school Bantaeng regency. Data collection methods by interview, observation and documentation. The result of research show that the implementation educator management and personel education at palnning step, selection, orientation, appointment and placement, observation and assessment, giving compensation and discharge have been done but it is not still maximal, there are still educator and staf education not based on their expert, compensation given is not able to make prosperous for them. The things to do to increase the quality by good planning, and selecting of what the school need, developing by training, sertified, observation and compensation as a fair to defend educator.
One of the important tasks in teaching is assisting students to think. Synectics Model matched with Mind Maps are viewed necessary to be applied in the instruction in order to achieve the target.The research is an experiment research with pre-test posttest control group design. The results of analyses indicate that: (1) there is significance difference with the mean score of creative think ability, creative attitude, and mastery of biology materials due to difference of instruction model used, (2) there is no significant difference of mean score of creative attitude among the students who belong to the high and low achievement.
