This study aims to investigate the quality assurance according to Islam and the experience of its application in Islamic-based public education institutions. Quality assurance in education and other fields has been widely practiced in Indonesia. Many experts have discussed quality assurance, but it is still in education in general, not specifically religious education. However, it is still in the aspect of education generally, not specifically religious education. Religious education has a strategic and urgent role in instilling morals/noble character in the generation of the Indonesian nation. Therefore, Islamic religious education is given special attention in the 2013 curriculum and given additional hours of study to produce a generation of people who are moral, faithful, and pious. It is said that the better generation, the better the quality assurance of education. This research was a qualitative study. It was a case study. It was at Vocational High Schools Ma'arif Nahdhatul Ulama, Garut, West Java, Indonesia (SMK Ma'arif NU Garut). This study shows that the application of quality assurance in Islam must balance the religious and rationality values so that there is no paradox between the two, as was successfully implemented at SMK Ma'arif NU Garut. This success proves that no religious values contradict rationality, so it should be used as a basis to support or complement the theory/concept and practice of quality assurance in other Islamic-based public education institutions. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penjaminan mutu menurut Islam dan pengalaman penerapanya di lembaga pendidikan umum berbasis Islam. Penjaminan mutu dalam bidang pendidikan dan bidang lainnya, telah banyak dipraktekkan di Indonesia. Banyak pakar yang telah memembahas penjaminan mutu, tetapi masih dalam aspek pendidikan secara umum, belum pendidikan agama secara khusus. Pendidikan agama memiliki peran strategis dan urgen dalam menanamkan moral/akhlak mulia kepada generasi bangsa Indonesia. Karenanya, pendidikan agama Islam diberikan perhatian khusus dalam kurikulum 2013 dan diberikan tambahan jam belajar dengan tujuan untuk menghasilkan generasi bangsa yang bermoral, beriman dan bertaqwa. Generasi bangsa akan terwujud dengan baik, bila penjaminan mutu pendidikannya juga baik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Penelitian ini berbentuk studi kasus di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Ma’arif Nahdhatul Ulama Kabupaten Garut Jawa Barat Indonesia (cukup disebut SMK Ma’arif NU Garut). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan quality assurance dalam Islam harus menyeimbangkan antara nilai Ilahiyah dan nilai rasionalitas sehingga tidak muncul sebuah paradoks antar keduanya, sebagaimana sukses diterapkan di SMK Ma’arif NU Garut. Kesuksesan ini membuktikan bahwa ternyata nilai-nilai agama tidak ada yang bertentangan dengan rasionalitas sehingga patut dijadikan landasan untuk menunjang atau melengkapi teori/konsep dan praktek penjaminan mutu yang ada di lembaga pendidikan umum yang berbasiskan Islam lainnya.
Until now Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) is still surviving, sustainable, and quality with several national and international recognition. Behind the readiness and success of PMDG, there is an initial motivation of the Trimurti founder of Gontor (hereinafter referred to as Trimurti) which is quite interesting to be studied as The Lessons Learned, especially for other pesantren Kiai. This study aimed to reveal the secrets of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of Trimurti and its implications for PMDG. This study was a qualitative type, where data was collected using mixed techniques, namely field research and literature research. The data was written in descriptive, analytical, and historical methods through five stages, namely; selection of topics, heuristics, verification, interpretation, and 'historiography'. This research relies on five theories, namely; the Theory of Anatomy of Human Motivation, the Theory of Implications, the Trimurti Theory, the Kiai Theory, and the Modern Pesantren Theory. This study found that the intrinsic motivation of Trimurti includes the local and regional microscale, and their extrinsic motivation includes the national mesoscale and global macroscale which has positive implications in the form of selective protection actions of three pesantren systems and projections of four modern systems in PMDG that contribute extraordinary to the nation, the country, even the world. The author considers Trimurti to be the time to become the Role Model of Lessons Learned and receive the National Hero Title award in the momentum of a century of PMDG (1926PMDG ( -2026.
