This case series suggests that laparoscopic salpingectomy for removal of Essure inserts is safe and feasible. We acknowledge that the numbers were small. However, consistent use of a laparoscopic approach in these eight patients indicates that this procedure is a feasible and suitable alternative to hysterectomy.
Congenital esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula is a rare congenital anomaly that occurs in one per 3000 live births and consist of esophageal discontinuity with or without connection to the trachea. Approximately 92% of patients with esophageal atresia have a tracheoesophageal fistula, which is a congenital fistulous connection between the esophagus and the trachea or a main bronchus. This patient presented with episodes of choking and cyanosis after every feed, respiratory difficulty and a distended abdomen. The plain radiograph of the chest including the abdomen was done where the stomach appeared to be markedly distended with air. The contrast meal performed showed a blind ended esophagus with a coiled feeding tube and pool of contrast in the blind ended esophagus. We present the radiologic findings of this case due to its rare nature and peculiar features.
Proximal Focal Femoral Deficiency (PFFD) is a term used to describe a condition where the femur is short and associated with an apparent loss of continuity between the shaft and neck. PFFD is reported as an uncommon but complex clinical condition. This was commonly grouped with other disorders like coxa vara and short bowel tumours. This has a female to male ratio of 2:1 and an incidence of 1 case per 50,000 population to 1 case per 200,000 population. This is a case report of a three-year-old female that was referred for plain radiograph of the lower limbs on account of limb-length discrepancy and abnormal gait. The plain pelvic and lower limb radiograph showed a markedly shortened femur with non-demonstration of the femoral head and neck. There was a vertically oriented acetabula fossa with altered acetabula and iliac angles. The patient is currently managed conservatively mainly by reassurance and use of crutches.
