This study aimed to examine the influence of conflict, leadership, organizational culture, and work ethic on employees' work performance in North Sumatra Education Authority, Indonesia. This becomes important because this organization is not a profit-oriented organization, so it needs further understanding about how to foster the work performance. However, most of these research topics still concentrate on the western populations. A quantitative approach was used to conduct this study, where data were collected directly to the office of Education Authority with n = 180. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) is employed for data analysis in this study. The results showed that conflict negatively affects employees' work performance. However, leadership, organizational culture, and work ethic have positive effect on employees' work performance.
Education is the main capital for humans to prosper. The importance of the role of education in improving welfare requires the need for equal distribution of education in each region regardless of socioeconomic, gender and racial backgrounds. In making educational equality, it is important to know the factors that influence educational inequality, namely income inequality, poverty and education gap. Reducing the income inequality, poverty and education gender gap in each province in Indonesia will reduce education inequality which is the responsibility of all parties, both the central and regional governments. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of income inequality, poverty and education gender gap on education inequality in Indonesia in 2016-2018. Data analysis was performed using the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method with a panel data regression estimation model using the help of eviews 9.0. Estimation results show that partially income inequality, poverty and gender gap in education have a positive and significant effect on educational inequality in Indonesia, while simultaneously income inequality, poverty and education gender gap negatively affect education inequality in Indonesia.
The present study investigates whether the distribution of power between two major internal corporate governance mechanisms: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors (BOD) is associated with the likelihood of financial statement fraud in Indonesian Public Listed Companies (PLCs). We employ principal component analysis on number of characteristic of power related to CEO and BOD to acquire each of three factors that characterize types of power between these key corporate governance actors. Furthermore, we extend the study by analyzing the dyadic pairing of low and high CEO and BOD power relationships and how they influence the likelihood of financial statement fraud in an emerging market country setting. The overall findings suggest when the BOD expert power increases (and to some extent when the BOD ownership power decreases), the likelihood of financial statement fraud decreases through a consistent monitoring and supervising mechanism. The findings of this study underline the need of the proactive/participatory boards in a company setting to mitigate the likelihood of financial statement fraud. This study supports the calls for maximizing the role of BOD in Indonesian companies comprehensively. Index Terms-corporate governance, CEO and BOD powers, likelihood of financial statement fraud, dyadic relationships
This study aims to find a model of students' self-resilience to drug initiation and addiction. Samples taken were 130 street children respondents who were assumed to be vulnerable to drug initiation and addiction. Data were collected using a questionnaire containing questions from 5 latent variables (unobserved variables) with 26 indicators and 288 questions that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Model. This study shows that the Technology Utilization variable has a significant influence on the variables of Drug Danger Awareness, Spiritual Guidance, and Life Skills. In addition, the Spiritual Guidance variable also has a significant influence on the Self-Resilience variable, while the Technology Utilization variable does not have a significant effect on the Self-Resilience variable. Drug Danger Awareness variable also does not have a significant influence on the Self-Resilience variable, as well as the Life Skills variable on the Self-Resilience variable. To build adolescent resilience begins with increasing spiritual guidance with information technology media. Optimizing the role of educators in building children's self-resilience by utilizing information technology is very helpful in strengthening students' self-resilience.
The dataset was collected using the survey method with an electronic questionnaire. The use of electronic questionnaires is intended to reach many respondents during the physical distancing caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic. The instrument used in data collection was adapted from Alinovi, Mane, and Romano (2008). The instrument was designed anonymously to ensure the privacy and independence of respondents in giving their responses. Data that is captured includes several categories either nominal, ordinal, or interval refers to the information that needs to be captured. Determination of the type of data also refers to the recommendation of previous research. The data was collected using the Google form platform. Questionnaire distribution was conducted on April 12–20, 2020, and 1096 responses were collected. The date is two weeks after the government call of the Republic of Indonesia to carry out Physical Distancing to anticipate the COVID-19 Global Pandemic. The entire data is then screened and filtered so that it only leaves the data with respondents who are domiciled in Medan City. After filtered, there is remained 846 data that is ready for analysis. In order to make more informative data, researchers conducted a descriptive statistical analysis, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis, and the Spearman's rank correlation. Analysis of the data provides valuable information related to the interrelation of each item and the pattern of economic resilience that the urban city community has as a data of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Researchers can then further analyzed the data with more advanced analytical tools to produce more valuable information in the development of science and in developing strategic policies related to anticipating the economic vulnerability of the household due to the global pandemic disaster.
