This study considered the importance of professionalism in university faculty performance since effective learning has its basis the superior instructional and professional competence of teachers. The purpose of the study was to attempt to suggest a hybrid model of faculty effectiveness evaluation based on the perceptions of higher education students regarding their faculty’s quality of teaching. The research focused on involving higher education students in determining the effectiveness characteristics of their teachers in order to provide a justification for developing effective operational systems for teacher evaluation in Pakistan. The study used a mixed methods research design comprising both quantitative and qualitative methods for the purpose of data collection and analysis. To address the research problem, the researcher chose to base the theoretical framework for the research on Marsh’s (1982) research and development of the Student Evaluation of Educational Quality (SEEQ) questionnaire. Further to this, the researcher developed the conceptual framework through the research of Gurney and Wise (2002) from where the criteria for evaluating the effective teacher questionnaire emerged having characteristics similar to those in the SEEQ and was used to attempt to bridge the time gap and establish the validity of the SEEQ over more than three decades. The data was gleaned from using both questionnaires from a sample of n= 395 under two-tailed probability distribution. All constructs’ reliability was above the criteria suggested by different scholars rendering the SEEQ questionnaire as reliable for the study.
Several Pakistani secondary school students from various popular institutes undergo a variety of problems and difficulties due to their inability to demonstrate a genuine and natural skill to use English language in real life. The situation under which English at the secondary level is taught in Pakistan is not as favorable to teaching and learning of the language as it ought to be. The main reason is lack of trained teachers and effective and precise objectives of English curriculum. The majority of teachers teaching English language at schools depend upon outmoded instructional modus operandi. This paper serves as a measure to identify the current gaps in teaching of English at secondary school. It mainly compares the performance of students in four English skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) taught by traditional and skill-based English teaching methods. The findings reveal that there is no concept of skills-based language teaching among secondary school students and the subsequent testing of the expected skills across all secondary schools in Pakistan. This results in the lack of professional requirement for natural use of English amongst secondary school students.

The study was carried out using quantitative research methodology with survey method of research and data collection. A total of n= 126 students, faculty members and administrative staff members (48 students, 48 faculty members and 30 administrative staff members) participated in this study. The sample was drawn through a multi-stage sampling design. Data was collected through close-ended, self-reported five-option Likert scale type questionnaire adopted with minor modifications from Zeqiri and Alija (2016). Analysis of collected data was carried out through SPSS V 24. Samples were contacted through consent letters and emails. Allpossible ways of legal and ethical considerations were part of the study. The analysis of data showed that the organisational culture of universities is a combination of Hofstede’s proposed dimensions of organizational culture.Universities tend to be effective and sustainable in their approaches but this is not so accros the country in the context of higher education teaching and non-teaching faculty members. Organizational culture of universities have inexperience dominance and the culture has openness towards newcomers. Rigidness towards deadlines is also an attribute of universities’ organizational culture, but there are few relaxations and comforts in working enviornments as well. Universities are contributing in a positive way towards society andhave realistice and pragmatic approach towards teaching and reearch. This study recommends a valueable consideration of employees’ personal needs and problems. The study also suggests that middle managers (Deans, Head of Departments) should be trained in human pschychology and human resources management.
