Prolonged exposure to uncontrolled chronic hyperglycemia can lead to various complications in the eye including cataract. Cataract is characterized by cloudiness or opacification of the eye lens which is the leading cause of sight loss and visual disability. It has been reported that diabetes mellitus is a major problem in the management of blindness and cataract surgery.
