METHOD:A three round modified delphi process was utilized to refine curricular content. Round 1: Existing curricula were identified through PCCM networks and literature review. A comprehensive topic list was compiled from these and participant suggestions. Duplicate topics were combined, and language standardized producing a compiled topic list. Round 2: The compiled list was distributed via electronic survey to a group of PCCM experts with experience in RLS for ranking by importance. Topics meeting consensus via a priori criteria were included. Additional topics were refined in Round 3.Round 3: A consensus group of 16 PCCM experts met virtually to evaluate topics not meeting initial consensus, and divided topics into curriculum modules.
RESULTS:Ten PCCM curricula from 5 continents were included. This yielded 356 topics after removing duplicates. The survey had 185 eligible respondents. 57 (30.8%) completed the entire survey. Respondents represented 46 low-and middle-income countries. The consensus group refined the topics into 110 curriculum modules.
CONCLUSIONS:This set of modules generated by international experts and based on established PCCM curricula represents an initial step in creating a PCCM curriculum that can be easily adapted for use in RLS.
