Even though fractal image compression would result in high compression ratio and good quality of the reconstructed image, it rarely used due to its time consuming coding procedure. The most sluggish stage of the compression in this method is for finding the best matched domain block for every range block of the image. In this paper we propose a method which by using a special characteristic vector classifies the domain blocks of the image. Therefore, the search process is accelerated and the quality of the reconstructed image is preserved.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
