Granular cell tumor is an uncommon benign tumor, most often found in the skin and subcutaneous tissue, although it may occur at any anatomical site. Multiple cutaneous lesions are rare, particularly in childhood. An association between multiple cutaneous granular cell tumors and systemic defects has been suggested. We report a case of a 9‐year‐old boy with multiple cutaneous granular cell tumors and growth retardation, and review the literature.
This study demonstrates that HPV type can be determined from wart parings. HPV-2 related viruses are the prevalent HPV types causing common warts on the hands and feet in this population.
A 69 year old man living in Spain contracted mucocutaneous leishmaniasis involving the nose. The infecting organism was Leishmania infantum, which only rarely causes the New World form of the disease. The source of infection was probably a neighbour’s dog. The patient began treatment with liposomal amphotericin B but died of pneumonia two months later.
