In this article, the effect of especially female factors on total labor force participation (LFP) is analyzed. The LFP rate shows the population willing to work. The high rate of this rate affects the economic growth and development and the welfare level of the country. Studies carried out to date have examined the factors affecting female LFP or total LFP. In this study, factors such as fertility, women's education, and dependency ratio on the total LFP are discussed more than the others. Again, unlike the literature, participation in the total workforce was analyzed with the Garson algorithm and artificial neural networks (ANN). As a result of the analyzes made, it has been obtained that the LFP rate follows a U-shaped path. It has been determined that the fertility rate (23.34%) has the maximum effect on LFP, and that ANN give very successful results in the estimation of the available data.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
