An experiment was implemented in the experimental field of the Department of Field Crops, College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, Jadriya during the year 2020-2021. The study aimed to investigate the effect of some herbicides (Crash + U46-Combifiluid) combination and Axial, Weed Free and Weedy, on the companion weeds and growth indicators for three cultivars of wheat (Shame6, Samur, and GRAIME). The experiment was conducted according to a RCBD (in a split-plot arrangement with three replicates), while the cultivars represent the main treatments and herbicide treatments. The results showed the superiority of cultivar GRAIME in the trait of the number of tiller. meters 2 and the flag leaf area (centimeter2), as it recorded averages of 469.90 meters2 and 22.61 centimeter2 respectively. The cultivars did not differ significantly between them in terms of the dry weight of plants. In comparison, the cultivar Samur recorded the highest plant height of 135.12 centimeter and the lowest weed dry weight was 40.44 gram. meters-2, recording the highest inhibition ratio in the weed dry weight amounted to 62.60%. The combination treatment (Crash + U46-Combifiluid) for all traits was superior to the weedy treatment, which recorded the lowest averages, as it recorded 459.9 tiller.meters2, 124.89 centimeter, 22.70 centimeter 2, and 1344 gram. meters -2 for the number of tillers, plant height, flag leaf area, and the dry weight of wheat plants, respectively. Besides, the lowest average weed dry weight was 6.55 gram. meters -2 and the highest inhibition ratio in the weed dry weight was 93.97%, it was close to the results of the weed-free treatment. The treatment of cultivar GRAIME with (Crash + U46-Combifiluid) combination achieved the highest mean for the number of tillers, flag leaf area, and dry weight of wheat plants reaching 515.70 tiller. meters 2 and 25.20 centimeter 2 and 1371.20 gram. meters-2 respectively, In comparison, the lowest weed dry weight was achieved in the treatment of cultivar Samur and Shame6 with the combination of (Crash + U46-Combifiluid) reached 0.00 and 5.80 gram. meters-2 respectively and recorded the highest inhibition ratio of weed dry weight reached 100% and 94.44% respectively.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the activity of some oxidative enzymes in three genotypes of maize namely (Baghdad, 5018, Sara) under three sowing dates: (26July, 4August and 12August) and denote (D1, D2 and D3). A field experiment was conducted at field of College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad/Al- Jadriya for the fall season 2021- 2022, factorial experiment was conducted using randomized blocks (RCBD) with three replicates. Significant differences were found among genotypes for the number of grains in the row, and the number of kernels in the ear. The results showed that superiority of the genotype (Baghdad) in the characteristic of Tasseling and Silking flowering 50%, plant yield with averages of 58.89d, 62.89d and 164.6g, respectively. While the genotype (Sara) was superior to the weight of 100 kernels, with an average weight of 27.34g. Genotype (5018) gave the highest value for Catalase (CAT) and Peroxidase (POD) enzyme, which was 2.16 u/mg and 0.51 u/mg, respectively, while genotype (Sara) gave the highest value for Superoxide dismutases (SODs), which was 50.15u/mg The (D1) showed an increase in most of the traits averages, especially (50% tasseling which gave 65.00d),(50% Silking which gave 68.00d),(weight of 100 grains which reached 26.91g) and (POD enzyme 0.56 u/mg). The (D3) gave the highest value for plant yield which was 162.1g, CAT enzyme 2.54u/mg and SOD enzyme 57.34u/mg.
The research was aimed at analyzing allelic variants of protein in wheat varieties used in Iraqi bakery and evaluating these varieties via genetic source using grain quality selection. Variety tests were carried out at field experimental station of Russian State Agrarian University - Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. The analysis of wheat grain quality was made after harvesting in mid August. Allele state of genes controlling the quality of gluten in wheat grain was determined using the PCR method. Samples of Iraqi wheat varieties 12 (soft wheat) and One (durum wheat) are characterized by considerable variation of gluten content and quality. The five varieties whose genotype include an allelic variant of high molecular weight glutenins Glu-D1 5+10 and subunit Glu-A1-2* (Fateh, Tamuz-3, Abighreb-3, Iraq and Maxibak) were also studied. The highest gluten content was from 31.5 % in Iraq to 35.3 % in Fateh variety, while the gluten quality was not below the second group. Five varieties - Farah, AlMurug, Sham-6, Tahadi and Sabirbeg - had unusual combination of the allelic state of Glu-D1 2+12 (which is usually associated with low gluten quality) with a 2* subunit for the Glu-A1 locus, which determines the possibility of improving gluten quality to the wheat varieties.
