BACKGROUNDChronic Suppurative Otitis media (CSOM) is a chronic inflammation of the mucosa of the middle ear cleft with variable involvement of its bony walls depending on the virulence of the organism and recurrent attacks. Absorption of the bacterial toxins through the round window during the process of infection and repeated usage of local antibiotics in the form of ear drops results in sensorineural deafness.
