Brackbill (1964) has found that delay of reinforcement during acquisition results in better retention than occurs when immediate reinforcement is used. The present experiment, using her stimulus discrimination procedure, indicated that the effect was due to feedback which was given in addition to the reinforcement. The effect did not occur when the feedback was eliminated and traditional delay of reinforcement procedures were used.
